The cast of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe on stage at the Wilde Theatre
This production of C.S. Lewis' epic tale was quite a show for many reasons. The first being that we were able to perform the show in The Wilde Theatre at South Hill Park, Bracknell. The task of taking a show a day before its first performance to a theatre, complete with props, set, costumes, musicians and actors is no small task, but one that came together superbly.
The Wilde Theatre is a great venue and having rehearsed all term with a space taped out to resemble the measurements of the stage, the actors adapted easily to the real thing. After a long morning setting up our set and lighting and getting the orchestra pit ready, we were able to bring the whole show together. Three sold out performances meant that the cast would have to work hard to bring the play to life.
Adrian Mitchell's version of the Narnia story with music by Shaun Davey is a magical production and the 50 boys and girls could not have given it more energy or conviction. The audience response was amazing and it is clear that this talented group of children created something special over the three performances.
