Lambrook Inter Schools Cross Country Meeting

11th February 2010

A bright sunny but bitterly cold afternoon greeted us at Lambrook for their cross country fixture.  We took 4 teams:  U11 Boys & U11 Girls, U13 Boys & U13 Girls.  We have some very able runners and the commitment that all gave was amazing.  Darcy Coop ran a tremendous race, finishing 2nd. The U13 girls were given 2nd place in the overall team placings.  The boys ran well too and the U13 team managed to come second in the team competition.  A great afternoon of running.

Eagle House Inter Schools Cross Country Meeting

4th February 2010

We had 12 teams running at our Cross Country Event – from Year 3 to Year 8 - an amazing 72 runners. All competed superbly and the event was a great afternoon of running.

Year 3 runners were the first off and Jack Borthwick and Cordelia Bambury headed the field for Eagle House, finishing 11th and 12th respectively. The Year 4 runners were superbly represented by Maddie Brant who came 3rd in her race and Jamie Lunnon who came 7th in his.

In the Year 5 Girls race Amynta Rimmer came in 8th place and Ben Howard came 8th in the Boys race. Year 6 had an exciting race, Caitlyn Earwaker came 7th and Robert Phillips came 11th. The Year 7 Girls were amazing and Darcy Coop came in first, Georgina Walton, 2nd and Eloise Rimmer came in 3rd. Coco Thompson was 6th and Menna Braithwaite 7th. They won the trophy for the best Year 7 team.

The Year 7 Boys team ran well also – Adam Robinson in particular ran superbly well on home soil and came 1st in a very strong field. Year 8 Girls saw Charlotte Earwaker in 7th and the Boys race had Ollie Cook in 8th and Adam Dewes in 9th.  All of our runners deserve praise! In total 480 competitors took part in the event from 14 different schools. Well done to all!

Berkshire Cross Country Championships, Wellington College

Saturday 23rd January 2010

This was our first competition of the year and there is no doubt that it is a tough one.  We always take a handful of runners who are up for the challenge and this year's team were certainly ready to give of their best.  The field for each race is huge and some of the county's best runners are on display.

Darcy Coop, Georgina Walton and Jenny Edwards represented Eagle House in the U13 Girls Race. This 2.5 km course involves some hard running over the flat wooded and grass tracks of Wellington.  The girls ran a great race.  Darcy kept up the pace with the leaders with Georgina was not far behind.  Darcy was placed 12th with Georgina coming in just behind in 15th.  Jenny pushed hard but was still running off an injury and she can be pleased with her first race of the season in a field of 140 runners.  The girls should be very pleased with their performances.

The U13 Boys race saw two Eagle House runners, Adam Robinson and Charlie Waters, finish well in this 3.5 km race.  Adam ran hard over the course and stayed with the leaders throughout the race.  He finished 4th and Charlie was not far behind, coming in 16th place.  This was a tremendous run from both boys and should give them confidence for the forthcoming fixtures.

Finally the U15 Boys race was run by Adam Dewes, Ollie Cook and Shushil Tamang.  This is a hard race over 4.5 km and is for both Year 8 and Year 9 runners.  The competition was tough and the race was run at a quick pace. Ollie and Shushil ran together and came in 39th and 40th. Adam was a little behind, running his way to fitness.  This race is very demanding and it has warmed up our runners for the forthcoming events.

All the team deserve huge praise for their efforts and this fixture was a great start to the season.
