Thursday 10th November - Match 1 vs. Cranleigh
All 19 year 3 boys were in action against Cranleigh and for most of them it was their first match of the season. We have been training hard but I was still quite nervous before the game as although we have been running through match situations on the training ground, you never know quite what to expect when a ‘real’ match comes along.
I need not have worried. The standard of rugby was very high and the boys all played exceptionally well. I was particularly impressed with the handling and the support play. If an Eagle House boy made a break, there was always someone to pass to and we scored a number of very good team tries. We do have some work to do on our defensive play but now that they have actually played a game it will be easier to explain the need for a defensive line and why we should move up in defence as a unit.
Congratulations to every boy who played, they can all be proud of their performances. There is a lot of talent there and I am sure we will go from strength to strength. Next up we have Papplewick in a few weeks time and I am already looking forward to this fixture.
