U/8B v St John's Team Chosen: Barnaby Britz Max Moore Max Small Charlie Wilkinson Hugo Williamson Charlie Dunn Barnaby Evershed Jasper Kelly Jack Rigg Oliver Vine This was the under 8 B boys first fixture of the season. The boys have been working hard in training, but are very new to the game, and I was hoping that this would be an opportunity for all of them to see what tag rugby was all about. The first half was quite an even affair, with both teams attacking at every opportunity. There was some lovely running rugby played by the boys, and it was an exciting end to end game. What was pleasing to see was that all the boys wanted the ball as often as possible, and that they supported the man in possession. St Johns ran away with it a bit in the second half, but not once did the boys give up. St Johns have been playing rugby throughout the Michaelmas term and it was their better understanding of the game that won through in the end. I was really pleased with each and every one of the boys, who gave their all for the duration of the game. We were rewarded with two excellent tries, and what was great to see was the passing that led to the tries being scored. Special mention must be made of Hugo and Ollie, who really took the game to the opposition at every opportunity. Hugo was rewarded with a try ( and he could have had a couple more if his tag hadn’t kept falling off ), and our other try was scored by Max Small. Well done to all the boys on a great effort.
