U9 Rounders team Team in action
Wednesday 27th June
U9 vs Highfield Lost 9 - 15
A poor first batting innings meant that the girls were always playing catch up in this match. They fielded well in the first innings, Laura's bowling was excellent and earned her praise from Highfield's umpire. After the first innings the score was 7 - 2 to Highfield. The girls batted much better in the second half and managed to score 7.5 rounders, with Maimu contributing 3. The fielding in the second innings was very good, with Tanaquille and Catherine stumping girls out at 2nd and 4th bases respectively. Highfield also managed to score 7.5 that innings giving them the win. However, the girls have all shown a huge amount of improvement over the season and I am sure will have plenty of success next year. Tanaquille was nominated player of the match.
Wednesday 13th June
U9/8 vs Waverley Won 11.5 - 7.5
Al the girls played well in the mixed U9 and U8 match. Laura produced some excellent bowling and both Maimu and Darcy were great as backstop. Catherine Allum was named player of the match and also scored 2 1/2 rounders. Darcy was consistent in the field and scored 2 rounders. Tanaquille stumped many players out a 2nd base and scored 1 1/2 rounders as did Maimu. The year 3 players performed brilliantly; Lucy stumped batters out at 3rd and scored 1/2 a rounder and both Pippa and Chloe scored rounders. Well done to all!
Wednesday 6th June
U9 vs Oratory Lost 24 to 11.5
The score line did not reflect the girls' effort this week. The partnership between Maimu as Backstop and Laura as bowler was strong. Tanaquille was excellent on 2nd base getting many girls out and taking a difficult catch. Darcy's fielding was exceptionally accurate and she also took a very difficult catch. The girls running let them down when batting, they weren't quick enough at sprinting between the bases and did not get nearly as many half rounders as they could have. The Oratory fielded very well and got many Eagle House girls out between 3rd and 4th bases. Tanaquille was nominated as player of the match for the combination of her quick fielding and good running which earned her 4 1/2 rounders.
Wednesday 23rd May
U9 vs St Neot's Won 10 - 8
A good team effort produced a much improved game this week. The girls played thoughtfully, remembering the rules and so not getting out needlessly. Better batting enabled six of the team to get onto the scoreboard but Tanaquille's 3 1/2 made her man of the match.
Wednesday 16th May
U9 vs Yateley Manor Lost 9.5 - 16
Good batting from Yateley Manor proved too much for our fielding team who panicked throwing the ball back to the batting square. There was a good partnership between bowler Laura and Tanaquille Manton-Jones as backstop.
Wednesday 9th May
U9 vs Dolphin Lost 18.5 - 16
The team played very well in difficult conditions, the grass was very slippy and during the last innings everyone was drenched. Many of the girls scored half and whole rounders and it was a close game. The girls need to work on tightening up the fielding to prevent half rounders from being scored against them. Laura bowled extremely well and Tanaquille Manton-Jones was named player of the match by the Dolphin umpire.
