Eagle House School Vs Marlston House
Wednesday 11th May 2011
Marlston House -13.5
Eagle House - 6
Eagle House were unfortunately put to bat first but they played their best and managed to hit some great balls which were unfortunately stopped by Marlston houses fielding. The eagle House girls need to think about their decision on whether to run or not as a lot of them were being stumped out as they left second base. Communication and following their own instincts will make sure that this does not happen again.
The first innings fielding was good as the girl’s in-between second and third base were shutting down the balls which were coming their way and passing straight to third base-well done Nelly and Charlotte. Our passing around the pitch can be improved on but passes from Lucky who was playing back stop to second base were always powerful.
Our second innings batting lead us to five and a half rounders which was thanks to our big hitter Jess who scored three and a half, Jess was also voted woman of the match due to her great fielding at second base. Again unfortunately our eager running caught the girls out on many occasion. Towards the end of our thirty good balls the only girls left in were Jess, Charlotte, Alex and Nelly.
The second innings fielding had improved from our first but unfortunately Marlston House still managed to score a further eight rounders. Lola had catch of the day on the twenty-ninth ball and the girls pulled together with their fielding skills and finished the game well. Thank you to the parents who watched and to the girls who played well.

The girls went into this match with only one training session as a team, and played well considering that they were all beginning to learn their new positions and playing together in a new team. Unfortunately we lost the toss so were put to bat first but the girls did their best and managed to score six rounder’s in the first innings by hitting their shots straight through the holes in Yateley manors fielding.
Our fielding was put to test when the Yateley Manor girls stood to bat they only managed to score three rounder’s due to Eagle House’s great fielding especially by Charlotte who shut down any balls going between second and third base. Jess and Charlotte also managed to stump out two of their players. Dasha also played extremely well in her position of deep fielder she was always alert and backing up second base. In the next two innings Eagle House continued to be successful by scoring a further seven and a half rounder’s but unfortunately letting Yateley score six and a half rounder’s.
The girls need to work on making sure the ball does not slip past them and if it did to back each other up. We will also have some batting practice to make sure that we keep scoring those rounder’s!
Thank you to all the parents who came and watched and to the girls who put in all the effort!
