Netball Under 9 Team 'Blog'

The netball season is now finished for the U9 teams.  The A team has had a lot of success this year and the girls are now competent players in all positions.  The B team has improved over the season and as their shooting gets better so will the scorelines.  Well done to everyone.

U9B Netball v White House    Won 2-0

Wednesday 7th March

U9A Netball v Hawley Place   Won 10-0

Eagle House dominated the game from the beginning, scoring 5 goals in the first quarter.  They kept up the pressure all the way through the rest of the match, with strong, accurate passing and finished as convincing winners.  Well done!

U9B Netball v Hawley Place   Drew 1-1

The team faced very tall opposition which made passing difficult.  Both goals were scored in the second quarter and the girls then defended well to finish with a draw.

Wednesday 21st February

U9A Netball v Daneshill   Drew 4-4

U9B Netball v Daneshill   Won 1-0

Wednesday 7th February

U9A Netball High 5 Festival   Won 5 Lost 0

The girls had an excellent tournament, they rotated round all the positions and everyone managed to score a goal!  They won all their matches convincingly and not a goal was scored against them.  Well done!

Wednesday 31st January

U9A Netball v The Oratory   Won 5-2

U9B Netball v The Oratory   Won 2-1

Wednesday 17th January

U9A Netball v Yateley Manor   Lost 7-3

This was the first 7-a-side match the girls had played since the Cranleigh tournament and they worked hard to incorporate the wings (Maggie, Laura & Maimu) into the game.  At half time it was 2-2 and it looked as if the final score would be very close.  However, in the last quarter the team showed signs of tiredness and Yateley Manor scored 4 goals in close succession.  The girls continued to play well right up to the final whistle and the game was closer than the score line shows.  Again Hosanna and Tanaquille linked up well together and Catherine and Sophia are beginning to develop a rapport in defence.  Darcy made some excellent interceptions and kept the play flowing over the whole court.

Wednesday 10th January

U9A Netball v Our Lady's Prep   Won 12-0

The girls started the new term very well with a convincing win.  With 10 girls in the team everyone played 2 quarters each, rotating positions.  Hosanna and Tanaquille, the team's regular shooters, shot very well, but many others in the team also shot goals demonstrating the girls' all round abilities.  Well done to everyone!

MICHAELMAS TERM 2006

Wednesday 6th December

U9A Netball v Yateley Manor   Drew 2-2

The two teams were very evenly matched and the quality of the netball was high.  Hosanna and Tanaquille linked up very well together both in attack and defence.

U9B Netball v Yateley Manor   Lost 5-0

The girls tried very hard, but were a lot shorter than the Yateley Manor girls.  Laura and Milly were passing the ball beautifully throughout the match.

Wednesday 22nd November

U9A Netball v Hall Grove   Won 3-2

It was a very close match between the two teams and everyone worked hard in the second half to ensure a win, with Tanaquille & Hosanna scoring 3 important goals.   The girls did particulalry well considering the match was changed from 'High 5' to 7-a-side five minutes before the game started.  Well done everyone!

Wednesday 15th November

U9A Netball v Hoe Bridge   Lost 9-4

The girls played very well against a strong Hoe Bridge team.  At half time we were 5-0 down but the girls played fantastically well in the 2nd half and scored 4 goals.  They should be very proud of how well they played.

U9B Netball V Hoe Bridge   Lost 7-1

The team worked hard against much stronger opposition.  Maggie Knox was Player of the Match

U9B Netball V Daneshill  Won 2-1

Wednesday 11th October

U9A Netball V St Joseph’s Won

U9B Netball V St Joseph’s Won 3-0

Wednesday 4th October

U9B Netball V Waverley Lost 2-0

A very good game but, one where both teams found it difficult to score!  Special mention goes to Laura and Sophia for their excellent teamwork and greatly improved skills.

Wednesday 27th September

The Abbey, unfortunately, only brought one under 9 team, so our teams each played two lots of 8 minutes.

U9A vs The Abbey  Won 7-0

The A team played extremely well, passing the ball accurately and quickly.  Darcy, Tanaquille and Hosanna scored seven goals between them – well done!

U9B vs The Abbey  Won 1-0

The B team did very well against the Abbey’s A team and in the last few minutes Beth managed to score the winning goal.

A good start to the season for both teams.
