Wednesday 20th September
U11 Netball V St Piran's (Won 8-6)
Wednesday 27th September
U11 Netball v The Abbey (Won 11-5)
The girls had a very good game. Their passing was much quicker than the Abbey and when the set plays began to work they looked very slick. Some athletic movement around the court from Sophie and Francesca and excellent shooting from Ella towards the end of the game gave us a resounding victory. Well done to all the Year 6’s and our guest player Thehela!
Wednesday 4th October
U11 Netball V Waverley Lost 13-6
Unfortunately Nicki sprained her ankle in the warm up just before the match. This meant we had to send for super-sub Amrita! A quick rearrangement of positions unsettled the team and for a large amount of the game their passing and movement around the court was messy. However, they got things together in the final quarter and scored five out of their six goals. Waverley were very good opposition with some very accurate shooters. Congratulations to Ella who was chosen by the Waverley team as women of the match.
Wednesday 11th October
U11 Netball V St Joseph’s Won 6-0
The girls started the game playing like the ball was a hot potato! Passes were erratic and footwork non-existent! Their opposition were quite disorganised and the Eagle House girls seemed to want to join in at the same party! However, with some stern words from their coach (!) they did redeem themselves and by the last quarter they were playing some impressively slick netball. Elodie was chosen by the opposition as woman of the match; both she and Ella scored some great goals in the last few minutes of the game.
U11 Tournament @ King Edward's Witley
V Edgeborough - won 3-2
V St Thomas’s Clapham – Lost 3-7
V Halsted Prep – Lost 4-0
V Barrow Hills – Drew 3-3
V St Thomas’s Kensington – Won 4-2
The Eagle House U11’s played some excellent netball over the course of the morning against some tough opposition. When they were confident they passed well and worked excellently as a team. There were moments when their heads went down but they fought back to come 6th out of 11 teams. The team represented the school admirably well done Sophie (captain), Elodie, Ella, Francesca, Thehela, Nicola and Charlotte.
Wednesday 1st November
U11 Netball V Holme Grange won 5-1
The Eagle House team were much quicker than their opposition in possession but sometimes looked a little lack lustre in defence. As they took the lead Eagle House’s confidence grew. Well done to Francesca B who was chosen by the opposition as woman of the match.
Wednesday 8th November
U11 Netball V Daneshill (Won 7-6)
This was a very close game where the Eagle House girls had moments where they played excellently and times when they were below par. However, their movement of the ball down the court was generally good with Sophie and Francesca working hard to find space. The defence, Nicki, Thehela and Charlotte, made some athletic interceptions and good shooting from Ella and Elodie gave us the edge and led to a deserved win. The opposition nominated Sophie as woman of the match.
U11 Netball V Lambrooke-Haileybury (Lost 11-15)
The Lambrooke team have not been beaten all season so we knew that this would be a very competitive match. The Eagle House girls played their socks off and were in contention for much of the match. Unfortunately Lambrooke pulled away a little in the third quarter. Thehela was chosen as woman of the match. Well done to all.
Wednesday 15th November
U11 Netball V Dolphin B (won 18-0)
Report written by (Captain for the match) Ella Higham
There was good movement between all the players in the match. Most gaols were scored by Charlotte E and me and there were some good attempts from Elodie. Eagle House were very quick to intercept the ball which stopped Dolphin from shooting. I was chosen by Dolphin as ‘man of the match’. (Thanks to the U10’s for playing in the U11 team – you did brilliantly!)
Saturday 19th November
U11 Netball tournament @ Hoe Bridge School - Runners-up
V City of London Freeman’s School won 5-1
V Cranleigh Drew 1-1
V St Georges Won 7-0
V Hall Grove Won 6-0
Final V Hoe Bridge Lost 2-3
While the rest of the school were probably still in their beds on an exeat Saturday, the Under 11 girls were competing in an exciting tournament arranged by Hoe Bridge for small schools and ‘B’ teams. The girls played some excellent netball throughout the morning looking very much a slick and well organised team. There were some hairy and controversial moments during the morning, for example when Elodie’s winning shot was in the air as the buzzer for the end of the game sounded only to have it disallowed as rules state that it needs to have completely gone through the ring! Highlights included some athletic interceptions from Thehela and some fantastic shooting from Ella and Elodie. The girls were unfortunate to lose in the very closely fought final but did themselves proud throughout. Thank you to both the girls and their parents who gave up their Saturday off to play and support in such a sporting manner. The team: Francesca (Captain), Ella, Elodie, Charlotte J, Thehela, Nicola Imogen, Rosie.
Wednesday 22nd November
U11 V Hall Grove Lost 10-2
This was a very fast and furious game. Over the course of the match, the speed at which it was played, led to some superb netball and to some awful netball! The two teams were quite evenly matched but unfortunately Eagle House could not get the ball in the net.
U11 v Yateley Manor Lost 12-4
The girls played very well on the whole. However, our downfall was that we were too polite and allowed Yateley to have the ball in any situation where it could have gone either way. The U11’s were joined by Rosie and Kim who did a fantastic job for the team. The Yateley girls even picked Kim as ’Man of the Match’ an excellent achievement.
Well done to all the girls for a good season where they have learnt a lot and have been excellent ambassadors for the school.
