U9 High-5 Netball Tournament @ Eagle House

U9 Netball Squad 2007
The U9s celebrate success
Wednesday 30th January V Oratory
Under 9A Won 2 – 1
This was a hard fought game against some tough opponents. Throughout the game Eagle House demonstrated good basic skills and as they settled down the girls spaced out, playing the ball down the line. The captain, Pippa lead by example intercepting many passes. It was a good team effort but Caitlyn, Clare and Pippa put in great performances.
Coaches player - Pippa Arton-Powell
Under 9B Won 1 – 0
This game was neck and neck until the final quarter. The ball went back and forth, often being intercepted by Megan in defence and then played back into our attacking circle where Sydney worked hard moving into space. Unfortunately the ball did not want to go into the net but EH did not give up trying. A lovely goal from Isabella Hendry clinched the game. Well done to Sarah for her first game at EH. Congratulations to Pippa and Caitlyn for coaching the team!
Coaches Player – Megan Wilkins

Wednesday 14th November v Yateley Manor
U9 A Won 14-2
Player of the Match: Pippa
Wow! Wonderful netball from the first to final whistle, kept the supporters from both teams enthraled for the duration of the match. Our U9A team played their best netball in a match situation and should feel very proud of their performance. All the skills that we have been practicing in lessons were used together, from accurate passing, and looking for spaces to teamwork and neat footwork - well done girls. The first and second quarters saw a flurry of 4 goals in each and with 5 goals scored in the final quarter, Eagle House clearly dominated the match. The girls used the whole court to keeping the play swift and focused leading to the opposition finding it hard to keep up. Well done girls and many thanks to all those who came to support and provided transport to the match.
Wednesday 7th November V Dolphin
U9A Won 5-2
Eagle House's U9A netball team really showed what they were made of during their first match following our 2 week break. Clearly the stronger team, the first goal was scored by Caitlyn in just the first few seconds. The most notable improvement in our game was the superb footwork all the girls used; and their understanding of the roles of the different positions has started to show through in match play. Alice played for the U9A team for the first time and her height was a clear advantage in the semi-circle when defending and she thoroughly deserved her place in the team. Caitlyn was named player of the match by the opposition and Pippa deserves a special mention for her role within the team in this match also.
U9B Lost 1-0
U9B Lost 1-0 Eagle House's U9B netball team where clearly the stronger team throughout the duration of this match. The developments they have made in both their understanding of the game and their technical skills really shone and so the final score is such a shame. The only goal scored was scored by Dolphin in the last 30 seconds of the final quarter. Tammy was named player of the match by the opposition and Lucy also deserves a special mention for her excellent contribution to the team. Both girls tried really hard to put into action all the skills we have been practicing in training sessions and both girls were always looking for spaces and marking their partners carefully.
Photos of these matches will appear on the blog page soon!
Wednesday 10th October 2007 v's Bishopsgate
U9A Lost 7-4
U9B Lost 8-1
Wednesday 26th September V Daneshill
U9A Won 5-0
The U9A team started this match confidently, clearly using the skills they had been practising in training sessions. Over the past week, they have been working hard to get into a space when attacking and remembering to mark their opponents closely when defending. Chloe and Pippa were fantastic at remembering both of these skills throughout the game and all 5 players used the whole court effectively, enabling the ball to move quickly from one end of the court to the other in just a few passes. The U9A team now need to practise their shooting skills, so we can make sure that when we have the ball in the circle, we can get that goal! Well done girls and once again thank you to all those who came along to show their support.
U9B Lost 1-2
The U9B team were certainly far more confident going into their 2nd match of the year. They too had been working all week on using the whole court and Tammy and Lucy in particular got into some fantastic spaces which enabled the ball to move quickly from one end to the other. Megan and Alice worked very hard in defense during the first quarter and it was lovely to see how their understanding of the game has developed in such a short space of time. The teams were very well matched and the final score could have gone either way. The fact our team didn't know who had won, shows they were all clearly just enjoying playing some great netball! Well done everyone and thank you to all our fantastic supporters.
Wednesday 19th September Training Games
U9A V U10B
Lost 1-4
The U9A team played the U10B's. It was a hard fought game with the U9's showing a great deal of potential for the future. As a team, they need to work on the flow of the passes down the court by team members repositioning when they have possession of the ball i.e. not just all crowding around the ball asking for every pass! Although all the team played well, particular congratulations should go to Caitlyn and Pippa who, at times, ran rings around the U10's! The U10B's nominated Pippa as 'Women of the Match'.
Under 9B vs. Under 8s
Score- 1-1
The Under 9Bs played well in their match against the Under 8s. All the girls rotated well and showed strong performances in all positions. The spacing on the court improved as the game went on and there was skilful play showed by Alice and Megan. The girls should take a lot of positives out of this game and should be well equipped for their next match. Well done to all of the girls!
Wednesday 12th September V Marleston House
U9A Won 8-6
After only a very few training sessions, the U9A team began the match with confidence scoring the first goal within only a couple of minutes. Pippa, Caitlyn, Chloe, Tamara and Sydney worked superbly as a team with some quick passing and excellent marking of the opposition. The score at the end of the 2nd quarter was 3-2 to Marleston House, however our players returned full of determination in the 3rd quarter and as a result changed the score to 5-3 to Eagle House. Despite Marleston having a quick succession of goals in the final quarter, to bring the score to 6-6, our attacking duo, Pippa and Caitlyn, were able to score a final 2 goals in the closing minutes to secure our victory. It was an excellent start to the season, so well done to everyone.
U9B Lost 0-4
With 2/5 of the U9B-team having only played netball for the first time last week, our team put in an amazing performance against Marleston House. All the players learned their positions quickly and were able to cope with the rotations to attack and defend with growing confidence. There were some lovely passes between our players and they were trying hard to remember to get into spaces. Well done to Emily, Lucy, Isabella, Megan and Alice.
Many thanks to all those who came along to support our two U9 teams.
