U8 High 5 Netball team 2007/8 Wednesday 30th January V Oratory Won against their A team 6-3 Won against their B team 8-1 The U8 High 5s team had a very busy and successful afternoon at The Oratory today. We arrived to find not one but two expectant U8 teams waiting for us and so to avoid any disappointment on their part, we agreed to play two matches in a row – one against their A team and the other against their Bs! Despite the bitterly cold weather and a doubly long session, Ella, Emily, Maeve, Annabelle and Josie all played with their customary exuberance and enthusiasm. It was exciting to see a real improvement in the girls’ individual skills and their teamwork as they become increasingly used to the game and confident in their play. It was particularly impressive to see so many athletic interceptions and such considerable attention paid to marking up and footwork. The whole team has a fantastic attitude to matches and it is always a real pleasure to take them. Well done Under 8s!
Wednesday 5th December V St Andrew's Pangbourne Won 1-0 Wednesday 19th September V U9B's (Training games) Score- 1-1 This was the Under 8’s first netball match and it was a very promising game. There was some excellent passing between all the players and even though spacing was an issue in the beginning once they reached the 3rd quarter the under 8’s were doing very well at looking around the court for the pass. The Goal for the under 8’s was scored by Ella who shows much promise as a netball player. Josie and Emily both played strong netball intercepting passes made by the Under 9’s. Maeve’s passing was good and her spacing improved hugely. Annabelle played very well showing skill in her passing and shooting technique. Very well done to all the girls who played.
