Wednesday 14th January V Dolphin
Won 18-16

Another really close game to start the term. The girls had trained with the U14s at Wellington the previous day and given their C team a run for their money! This really helped Eagle House get off to a good start. However, in the first two quarters we were a little disorganised and seemed determined to run into each other's space. What really impressed me about today's match was the way that the girls listened to my advice and acted upon it. By the third quarter we were looking slick and determined. Their was some great team work in the circle between Ella and Elodie who were well supported by Francesca and Claire. Nicola and Charlotte were dogged in their defence, coping with some unusual tactical play from the Dolphin. It was also lovely to see Chloe, Jemima and Alyna play so well in an A team match.
Keep it up, girls - a great win against tough opposition!

Wednesday 10th December v Yateley Manor
Won 16-9
Quarter time scores 1:7-2 2:11-2 3:13-7 4:16-9

A great win to end the term. It was Marta's last match with us, so a somewhat sad occasion! Eagle House dominated the game from the first quarter and never really looked troubled by the opposition. It was not the best netball we have played all term but it was quite hard to find space on the court as Yateley Manor were a little erratic with their spacing. In order to even the sides up a little we all changed position in the third quarter and chaos ensued! However, we kept a good lead and the rest of the game was rather uneventful, apart from Claire taking a tumble and leaving most of the skin from her knee on the court just before the end of the game...ouch! Thanks for all your hard work for the team over the term, Marta - I bet you still prefer basketball though!
Thanks to Mr Calvey for the great pics!

Wednesday 3rd December v St Andrew's Pangbourne
Won 23-17

What a fantastic game of netball! Captain Claire got up from her death bed and came back to school, so she wouldn't let the team down - what dedication! She was a pivotal player in the team's success. However, you can't win a match such as this without all the players in the team showing dedication, focus and team spirit. It was no stroll in the park - St Andrew's could have made up the deficit at any time during the match. However, Eagle House kept their heads and played the best netball I have seen them play. Charlotte was fantastic in defense in the first quarter, intercepting many long passes into the St Andrew's circle. Elodie and Ella were on top form and scored some superb goals. Francesca's movement around the court ensured the flow of play, bringing the ball from defence to attack. Nicki and Marta remained solid in defense. Well done girls all of you will be receiving conduct stars for you sportsmanship too!
Wednesday 5th November V Pangbourne College
U13A Won 23-6

It was the type of afternoon that adults remember when they think about school sport - cold, wet and overcast! And to cap it all Miss Palmer told the team they had to play in skirts and short sleeved shirts!
This was a game that the girls looked in charge of right from the first few minutes. However, it is sometimes more difficult to play against a weaker team than a very strong one and at times in the fiirst quater we looked a little ragged. However, Eagle House kept piling on the goals with some very accurate shooting from Ella and Elodie. It was great that Chloe played a full half, making some excellent interceptions. By the third quater we were so far ahead that everyone changed positions, in theory to allow the opposition to get into the game a little more. However, the girls demonstrated that they are all versitile players with Charlotte and Nicki (who are usually our defenders) continuing to score goals, backed upped by a thoroughly organised looking team!
Well done girls a good win!

Player of the Match: Emily Holbert
Coach's Player : Jemima Walker
What a performance! On a cold and wet Wednesday we made our way to Pangbourne College to meet our opponents. However we had nothing to fear, from the very first whistle we commanded the match. We passed quickly and accuratley and by the end of the 1st quarter were already 6 - 0 up! At half-time we were 12 - 0 and we decided to change the team around completely putting the girls in unfamiliar positions. Emily went into GA, a position she has never player because she claimed she couldn't shoot, she proceeded to score the next six and was made player of the match. I was very impressed with the commitment of the team and the way they played in the conditions.
Wednesday 1st October V Highfield
U13A Lost 12-15
Quarter time scores 1: 5-4 2: 8-8 3: 10-14 4: 12-15
Player of the match - Ella
This was a little like déja vu! It was also one of the best matches I have seen played by the U13s at Eagle House! The two sides were very evenly matched and it took every ounce of effort and focus from the girls to remain in contention. And they were very much on top of the game until that dreaded third quater. The three goals more than us that Highfild scored in this quater were enough to win them the match. it would have been a perfect afternoon if only we could have held onto the win, but congratulations goes to all the team for such a great effort.

A very good match where the girls won convincingly. There was some lovely movement in both the attacking and defending circles. A great team effort, well done, girls!

U13A Lost 21-17

A supurb opening game of the season in less than superb conditions. However, we did not let the rain affect our play, only the soggy scoresheet suffered! I was proud of the focus, teamwork and determination that the girls showed throughout the match. Eagle House won the first quatre 7-6 - some excellent shooting from Ella and Elodie and athletic movement around the court from the rest of the team gave us an advantage over our opposition. The second quatre went in much the same way. Nicki and Charlotte were stalwart in defence with Claire and francesca moving the ball down the court slickly. with the score standing at 11-12 to Eagle House at half time we were on a roll. However, the third quatre saw Lambrooke score four quick goals in succession taking them into the lead. Unfortunately, for Eagle House, as the rain fell and the ball became slipperyer and slipperyer we were unable to close the gap. Congratulations has to go to Marta for playing such a fantastic first game of competitive netball.

I was really proud to hear how well the U13B team got on. For many girls this was their first competitive netball match. Miss Ross reported that it was a fine team performance. Romy and Ana were exceptional in attack scoring numerous goals. Eagle House had the lead from the first quatre and the score at half time was 8-4. Alys demonstrated lovely balance and skill playing WA and C. Emily led the way as Captain, while Alyna was solid in defence. Well done, girls!
