Wednesday 12th November V Marleston House Lost 5-0

Woman of the match - Claire GK

Sometimes a score line doesn't tell the whole story! Eagle House definitely played the best I'd ever seen them play for the first half of the match.  Marleston House were a tough opposition; organised in both attack and defense, with excellent stick skills.  However, we rose to the challenge and were feisty, working hard to keep them at bay.  Nicki, Emily and Ella all had a fantastic game in the opening minutes, while Claire was determined in goal.  Unfortunately, Marleston House scored about five minutes before half time following it with another soft goal just before the whistle.  Finding ourselves as underdogs once more somewhat took the wind out of our sails and it was sad to see things go downhill in the second half.

It is hard to find different ways to encourage you girls - but you are improving and things will get better!

V St Andrew’s Pangbourne Lost 2-0

V Pangbourne College Lost 2-0

V Oratory Prep Lost 3-0

The girls had a rollercoaster of an afternoon!  There were times when they were in charge of the games but a combination of bad luck and unfortunate positioning prevented them from scoring.  However, for much of the time they were just too nice; allowing their opposition to have too much time with the ball and not really looking as if they wanted to win.  Although the score lines don’t read well, there is talent there – they just have to believe that they can win!

Wednesday 17th September U13A v Cranleigh won 2-1

Player's Woman-of-the-match – Ella (Captain)

Coach's Women-of-the-match - Nicki

A very good start to the year for the U13A team.  I asked the girls to go into the match with a positive attitude, believing that they could win – a goal from Charlotte J in the first five minutes proved that they had listened to my advice and were up for the challenge!    In fact the girls played excellently in the first half.  There was some great passing between them; Nicki and Emily supported the attackers and spread the ball effectively to the wings.  Ella had some fantastic runs into the ‘D’ and was able to set up Cessie to score another goal in the tenth minute.

Shocked by our success, we seemed to sit back a little in the second half.  When in defence, the whole team was slow to get back and mark the Cranleigh attack, giving them a goal about five minutes before the final whistle.  Although we had numerous shots on goal throughout the second half all slipped centimetres outside the post!

It was a great boost to win our first match when winning seemed so allusive last year – keep-up the positive attitude, girls!
