U11A Team U11B Team
Thursday 12th March v The Abbey
U11A Lost 3-1
Woman of the match - Tanaquille
Team: Tanequille (C), Darcy, Milly, Laura, Menna, Lucinda, Beth (GK)
On the whole, the team played a very good game. The girls kept position on the pitch and passed accurately. At half time, Eagle House were 1-0 up and the team had very much impressed the coach from the Abbey. In the second half we kept posession but just couldn't finish effectively in the D. The Abbey made some good breaks and scored two quick goals at the beginning of the second half, leaving the girls a little lack lustre. It was a shame to lose the last game of the season but well done for a great year of hockey - you have all come a long way since that first game in September.
U11B Won 4-0 (maggie 2, Aanya, Lily)
Team: Rosie (C), Kitty, Lily, Sophia, Aanya, Maggie, Lana, Jess, Chantal (GK)
An great game of hockey where energy and enthusiasm were in abundance! (Strange, considering all the recent late nights!) Lily, Aanya and Kitty were superb in midfield. Sophia was solid in defense and Maggie positioned herself well in our attacking D to score some determined goals! It was lovely to see the whole team playing so well and demonstrating that they have learnt a lot since September.
Wednesday 25th February v Hall Grove
Won 1-0 (Milly)
Woman of the match: Milly
Team: Tanequille (C), Darcy, Milly, Laura, Ashley, Menna, Maimu, Chantal (GK)
The game was a little slow to get started and both teams struggled to get the ball into space in the first half. The Eagle House girls did not lack determination, but the attackers needed to come forward, towards the ball in order to clear it from defence. After a few pointers from Miss Palmer and Miss Ross at half time, the team played far better in the second half; communicating with each other and moving off the ball to create space. Early in the half, Milly received the ball on the wing and dribbled into the D to score a fantastic goal. Further pressure was put on the goaly by Darcy, but the ball went just wide on a couple of occasions. Well done to all the team, a good win!
Wednesday 28th January v Daneshill
Won 8-3 (Darcy 3, Tanaquille 2, Milly 2, Menna 1)
Woman of the match: Darcy
Team: Tanequille (C), Darcy, Milly, Laura, Ashley, Menna, Maimu, Beth (GK)
It was a horribly wet afternoon, but the U11A team rose to to occasion and produced some very good hockey. They are beginning to pass more accurately and hold position on the pitch so the ball can be spread to the wings in order to find space. It is also lovely to see the girls play with growing grit and determination to be first to the ball and strong in tackles. We need to work on supporting each other off the ball and driving into space when in attack. However, the team looked organised and much more tactically aware of the bigger picture.
Tink, again worked doggedly in mid-field spreading the ball very effectively out to the players on the wing. She also scored a couple of strong goals by driving into the D and taking a shot. Darcy had an excellent game as center forward, scoring three times through good positioning and determination to see the ball into the goal. Milly had a superb game as right wing, holding her space and positioning herself by the post when the ball was in the D, scoring a couple of sneaky goals. our defensive team of Laura, Ashley, Menna and Beth worked excellently together. Menna was also pleased by the opportunity to play on the wing and score her first goal.
Well done, girls. A good afternoon of hockey.

Players of the match
It was good to finally be playing some hockey in the sunshine and a slightly warmer temperature - the nice weather certainly brought out the best in the girls! In practise, we have been working on body positioning in our attacking 'D', looking up before passing and developing more drive, both with the ball on the stick and into a tackle(Oomph basically!). I am happy to say that the practising paid off! Although they were a little slow to get started and positional play wasn't brilliant early on in the game, a goal scored by Darcy from a short corner fed in by Tink helped to lift their spirits and encourage them to believe in themselves. From this point on the game improved. Tink was pivotal in midfield, feeding the ball well out to the wings. Darcy scored a superb second goal just before half time by being excellently positioned in the 'D' and striking a cross from Milly sweetly into the back of the net. The Eagle House girls dominated the second half, looking much more organised than Lambrook and demonstrating some excellent stick skills. A goal from Milly and two more from Darcy sealed a very well won victory. Although I have mentioned some names this was a real team performance with no weak links. Well done, girls! Good work on a Saturday afternoon at the end of a long term.
Wednesday 19th November Hockey v Oratory Prep
Lost 3-1
Woman of the match – Beth
Despite a disappointing score, we really began to look like a team that means business today! I was very pleased with the girl’s performance – we have lots to work on but there’s a great deal of potential. Although we were largely defending for most of the first half the girls demonstrated some very good stick work and passed out to space. Laura played a strong game in defense, making some excellent hits from dead balls, helping to spread the play. Milly was also tenacious down the wing, tracking the ball and timing her tackle well. While in mid-field,Tanaquille was our most stalwart player. Unfortunately, although Beth played excellently in goal, the Oratory’s battering of our defenses led to two quick goals being scored just before half time. The girls came out positively in the second half and looked like they could square the match after scoring very quickly. However, they couldn’t keep the momentum up and Oratory scored again just before the end.
You have the skills girls! We just need to work on our passion, drive and resolute desire to win – we are too polite!
Woman of the Match A Team Captain
U11B Lost 2-1
This was a really great training game where the B team began to come together. Ashley got her wish to play out of goal and did an excellent job in defense. Maimu demonstrated superb stick skills in mid-field and was able to take the ball out of the mess of players in order to give us space to think and pass better. An early goal from Aanya was a ‘blinder’ and put us into the lead! It was therefore unfortunate that she then went and scored one for the opposition! This was a close game that could have gone either way - what a shame that it didn’t goes ours!
We need to work on positioning on the pitch, positioning of our bodies in relation to the ball and positioning in the D. And, as with the A team, we need a little more oomph!
