Season Record: Played 2 won 2; goals for 11; goals against 5
Match 3 versus Hall Grove (Away) Wednesday 25th February Won 6-1 (Scorers: Hugo Rivas De Anta (4); Tristan Abery and George Joslin) Team: Connor Kent-Payne; Oliver Trapnell; Felix Medlock(Capt); Tristan Davis;Tristan Abery; Huw Braithwaite;Alex Wilkinson; Felix Ynojosa; Hugo Rivas De Anta; George Joslin; Charlie Riddell ; Sub: Odise Vila; The milder and drier weather meant that this match which was played on a grass pitch could go ahead. We started in a very positive manner and dominated territory and possession. We got into the opposition D at will but we could not convert any of our chances into goals. Finally we did get the ball into the back of the net but shortly afterwards Hall Grove got into our D for the first time and scored. It looked as though we would go into the break at 1-1 but on the stroke of half-time Tristan Abery got on the end of a pass and gave us a well deserved but narrow lead at half-time. We started the second half determined to build on our lead. Huw who had an outstanding game was unfortunate to hit the goal post with a terrific shot from the edge of the D, but we could not be denied and although their goalkeeper made some outstanding saves, we began to finish off our moves, with Hugo completing a well deserved hat trick. Our dominance was such that Hall Grove never got into our D this half. This was due to Felix Medlock marshalling our defence and we finished an outstanding performance with a well deserved win. The team as a whole deserve credit as they worked hard for one another and remained focused even when things did not always go our way in the first half. Match 2 versus Hoe Bridge (Away) Wednesday 4th February Match cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Match 1 versus Crosfields (Away) Wednesday 28th January Won 5-4 (Scorers: Alex Wilkinson; Hugo Rivas De Anta; Felix Medlock(2) and George Joslin) Team: Connor Kent-Payne; Oliver Trapnell; Felix Medlock(Capt); Tristan Davis; Charlie Riddell; Huw Braithwaite; Alex Wilkinson; Felix Ynojosa; Hugo Rivas De Anta; George Joslin; Netra Limbu; Subs: Odise Vila; Tristan Abery This was originally scheduled as an 11 aside game to be played on a grass pitch, but due to the soggy conditions we were switched to a smaller all weather surface, so the match was played as an 8 aside game. As we had only had one practice together and that was the day before which was really used to select the team, I was expecting us to struggle against a team who had already played a match. Crosfields started brightly passing the ball around and it was against the early run of play that Alex struck a well hit goal which was soon followed by another scored by Hugo. Crosfields then began to get back into the game and dominated the rest of the half, scoring 3 times to take a well deserved lead into half-time. We started the second half by moving Felix Medlock up front and this paid dividends as he scored twice early on to put us back in the lead and George Joslin tapped in to give us a 2 goal lead with 10 minutes to go. Crosfields pulled a goal back and they strove desperately for the equaliser, but tight defence kept them out, to give us a well deserved narrow win on our first outing of the season. All 13 players gave of their best and in particular we were well served by the hard work of Alex, Connor, Huw and Felix Medlock. A great way to start the season and hopefully this will be the springboard for us to go on to greater heights. |
