U9 C/D MATCH 4 VS EDGEBOROUGH 29/09/11
Today was a very relaxed match as Edgeborough only had a C team so we kept rotating the players on the pitch and 2 of our players always played for the opposition so we could even up the numbers.

This meant it did not quite have the normal match intensity but it was good to get out again and test our skills in a match. We played on a lovely pitch on a very warm afternoon and in the end it was a 0-0 draw.

U9C/D MATCH 3 VS YATELEY MANOR 22/09/11
What a lovely afternoon with both matches going to the wire!
The D's played first and really played with heart and courage as it seemed like the Yateley Manor attack was relentless. They had shot after shot and somehow we managed to keep it out. As the match progressed though our level of play improved significantly and by the second half we started to pass the ball around more effectively and also managed a few shots at goal. Federico Anderson who was the keeper for the team had an outstanding game as he really put his body on the line to make sure the opposition did not score. It all came down to the last play with the score tied at 0-0 and unfortunately we had a little blunder at the back and somehow the ball ended it the net right on the final whistle.
Well done boys I am really looking forward to your next match as their was a huge improvement in this match.
The C's then stepped up and were on a real high after their draw at Cranleigh. Unfortunately it did not go to plan and Yateley once again got off to a flier and scored an early goal. We were really struggling to hold onto possession and before we knew it they scored a second goal and this ended the half.
We had really been shown up in the first half but I must take my hat off to the boys because at half time everyone of them said it was just like Cranleigh and they knew they could come back. And comeback they did! We started at a furious pace and very soon into the half Jasper Kelly scored his first goal. It then did not take long as Hugo Williamson scored a second and suddenly it was all tied up but we were suddenly starting to dominate. The midfield trio were fantastic as they really put pressure on Yateley, but my man of the match was Harry Hodge at the back, as he was so solid and did not let anyone through. I was so surprised and impressed when Jasper Kelly scored the third goal which turned out to be the final goal of the match. Wow another hugely entertaining game and I was so proud of the way the boys responded after half time, now we need to see them play with that same intensity for the whole match. Good luck next week!

U9C MATCH 2 VS CRANLEIGH 17/09/11
Team- Oli Vine, Alexander Crosby, Charlie Dunn, George Belcher and Jasper Kelly(c)
What a great Game! I think everyone who watched would admit that this was one of the most entertaining games of football seen at U9 level.
After a tough encounter with Aldro on Thursday and a long and tiring day in France I was not expecting much, and it was all compounded when some boys could not make the game and we were down to 5 players.
Cranleigh were very accommodating and had a C and D team on standby so they kept rotating their players. As we only had 5 players they had to work incredibly hard and it was amazing to see the improvement from Thursday, everyone worked for each other, and as the confidence grew we started to pass the ball around and I was so impressed by the tackling. Cranleigh were on top in the initial stages and scored 2 goals in the first half. I was a little worried as we were playing downhill and with the wind so I expected the second half to be even tougher. But the boys came out and gave the performance of their lives as they got stuck in and really played for each other, every single player played their part and eventually the first goal came with Charlie Dunn scoring it. Very soon after Jasper Kelly scored a second and suddenly there was great confidence and during this period Jasper, George and Charlie had chances but so did Cranleigh, and both Oli Vine and Alexander Crosby were like a wall at the back and never let anything through.
Well done boys I hope we are just going to get better and better after this performance!

U9C/D MATCH 1 VS ALDRO 15/09/11
This was the first game of the season for the boys and we knew it was going to be a challenge against a strong all boy school.
All our boys took part so everyone got an opportunity which was important. The C team had a very difficult start and struggled to get into the game against a big strong team and Aldro scored some goals early on. The second half was much improved with Eagle House playing downhill and Jasper Kelly, Hugo Williamson and George Belcher had more opportunities on attack and the level of play really improved.
The D team had a very similar game finding things quite a struggle early on in the match but there were signs of improvement as the match progressed and they did have a few chances towards the end of the match.
I think both teams learnt a lot about passing and tackling and I am sure this will bode well for the rest of the season.
