Wednesday 15th October 2008 v Lambrook Haileybury (Away) Lost 1-2

Team: Max Hammond, Sven Winkler, Hal Quinn, Mark Erridge, Jaime Madridejos, Michael Gimson, Robert Phillips sub: Matthew Meikle

This was the final game of the season for the under 10 B’s and one they can be very proud of. A couple days prior they had experienced a change in manager who very kindly got them out of a wet cross country session late Tuesday afternoon to practice a couple of drills.

As we got off the bus at Lambrook-Haileybury the players seemed determined to end a mixed run of results finishing with a defiant victory. Just ever so slightly this was not the case! In the first half we were piling lots of pressure on the opposition deservedly resulting in an early goal, well taken by Robert Phillips. However within a couple of minutes Lambrook-Haileybury had pegged us back, scoring from a corner. The game was exciting being played at a high tempo with both teams on the counter. One parent said to me at the side that it was like watching a match on sky sports! All members of the team gave it there all in a contested first half which finish 1-1.

A quick half time team talk giving further encouragement was delivered before the second half started. The second half was as good as the first, with end to end football. Both teams had glorious chances to take the lead however time was running out. A couple of last minutes changes were made and Eagle House gave a final push in search for a winning goal. However we were caught out with Lambrook-Haileybury stealing the game with a late goal. I thought the team would have almost lost all morale however we still went searching for now what would be an equaliser.

The full time whistle went with both teams very tired after all their efforts! Everyone watching the game said that it was played at a high standard which should have ended in a draw. I am very proud of the team who thoroughly enjoyed themselves playing good football. Thank you to all the parents who came to watch and to Lambrook-Haileybury for being so welcoming.

Wednesday 1st October 2008 v Hall Grove (Home) Drew 1-1

Team: Max Hammond, Sven Winkler, Hal Quinn, Mark Erridge, Jaime Madridejos, Michael Gimson, Robert Phillips Sub: Jack Rhodes

A very exciting game was enjoyed by all, both by the players and the spectators on the touchline. Both sides had been on the end of some very heavy defeats during the season and it was great to see all the boys competing in a very even match. The game was an end to end affair with both sides having several chances before Hall Grove went ahead mid-way through the first half. The Eagle House boys did not let their heads drop, but instead raised their efforts still further and were unlucky not to go in at half-time all-square. After an orange and some magic water they started the second half with renewed effort and eventually the equaliser came via a thundering shot from Mark Erridge. The game continued at a frantic pace and both teams had further chances to snatch a victory. In the end a draw was a fair result and the beaming smiles from both sets of players was evidence of how much they had enjoyed themselves. Well done to all the players for their good sportsmanship.

Wednesday 24th September 2008 v Yateley Manor Lost 0-6

Team: Max Hammond, Sven Winkler, Hal Quinn, Mark Erridge, Jaime Madridejos, Matthew Meikle, Robert Phillips Subs: Jack Rhodes, Michael Gimson, Matthew Hodge

The first half was a fairly even game with Yateley only scoring their third goal in the last five minutes of the half. The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with Yateley once again scoring only in the latter stages of the game.

There were some good performances by a number of the players; Max made several excellent saves whilst in front of him Sven and Michael managed to prevent most attacks due to some good tackling and timely interceptions. Up front Mark produced one outstanding save from the Yateley keeper from a well taken free kick and for much of the game he made some telling runs and produced some excellent passes to his fellow forwards. Up front Robert was a constant threat as was Jaime and both of them had chances to score. All in all there were some very pleasing performances and the standard of play was certainly better than at Aldro.

Wednesday 10th September 2008 v Aldro  Lost 8 - 1

Team: Max Hammond, Sven Winkler, Michael Gimson, Mark Erridge, Jaime Madridejos, Oscar Turtonn, Robert Phillips Sub: Jack Rhodes

We will play in the blue sports tops, blue shorts, games socks, shin pads and soccer boots.

This is a slight change from the calendar fixture you may have read.  The U10s, under a new FA ruling, have to play 7-a-side with their own age group.
