Eagle House v. Parkside

The Colts C cricket team opened up the season with a loss to a well drilled Parkside team. This however was a promising performance by a inexperienced Eagle House side who had only practised as a unit the previous day!

Eagle House batted first posting a respectable total of 90 for the loss of 7 wickets in our allotted 20 overs! Solid defensive batting was shown by Thor Winkler. Although he was only able to contribute 5 runs to the total he was able to keep a strong Parkside attack at bay while many wickets fell around him in the opening couple of overs. Thor was able to lay the foundations for an impressive onslaught by William Rasmussen later on in the innings.

William, batting number 6, arrived at the crease under immense pressure due to a top order collapse, but this did nothing to stop him playing his natural flamboyant game! William put in a scintillating yet solid batting performance dispatching the Parkside bowlers to all parts of the ground when they strayed in line or length! William's 22 runs were a lesson to the rest of his team on how to deal with the fiery Parkside attack!

Though confident we would be able to defend our total, our  hopes were soon dashed due largly to some sloppy fielding and wayward bowling. The Parkside batting performance was impressive and their run chase was calculated and well executed! The bowling was not however all doom and gloom with Tom Newland bowling a tidy 4 over spell ending with figures of 3 for 18.

In the end Eagle House lost to a stronger Parkside team by 7 wickets but we will learn from our mistakes and grow as a team through the season!
