Wednesday 18th May
v Felton Fleet (Home)
Rain stopped play
Eagle House 92 for 5 after 20 overs
Ben Moore 29
Sven Winkler 25
Daniel Cook 12
Matthew Meikle (not out) 9
Felton Fleet 73 for 3 after 13 overs
Lawal 1 for 12 off 3 overs
Quinn 2 for 18 off 3 overs
Kenny 0 for 11 over 3 overs
A rain affected match saw some solid performances with both bat and ball. Ben Moore continued his impressive bating form with an impressive 29 supported ably by Sven Winkler. Daniel Cook achieved the only six of the match which I will probably not hear the last of! Towards the end of the innings Matthew Meikle delivered two cracking fours and shows much potential.
The balling saw some impressive displays from Hal Quinn, Mikail Kenny and Hamid Lawal. Within the first over the Eagles were unlucky with a dropped catch off after a good delivery from Lawal and a dodgy decision from the home umpire who was thinking about how nice tea was and missed a run out. Both Hamid and Kenny were very economical and kept up the pressure on Felton Fleet. Even after another dropped catch from a Hamid delivery, Hamid persisted and was rewarded which included an excellent catch from Kenny. Quinn joined in the attack and achieved a wicket with his first ball. What was just as impressive was Hamid's catch. Quinn then achieved another wicket in his second over.
With the weather deteriorating there were some slips in the field. This is something we will work on. Overal though a good performance.

Wednesday 4th May
v Cranleigh (Away)
Lost by 67 runs
Eagle House 114 for 6
Ben Moore 22
Rudy Singh (not out) 13
Cranleigh 180 for 4
Ben Moore 2 for 39
Daniel Cook 1 for 32
Hal Quinn 1 for 40
The first match of the season saw the 4ths take on a strong Cranleigh side. After opting to field the Eagles made an impressive start taking the first wicket in the second over. We were showing some good work in the field and some consistent bowling. However, with the sun beating down and against some excellent batting, we did start to tire in the field. Ben Moore helped steady the ship somewhat and took two good wickets which included a splendid catch from Jose Luis de Mora. At the end of 25 overs Cranleigh set a daunting 180.
The Eagles achieved a solid score lead by Rudy Singh, very much in the traditions of Geoff Boycott, who remained not out. Some excellent shots came from Austin Larson and Ben Moore. However, we could have scored more if we took more risks and tried to run faster between wickets. Overall a great day out and a good introduction to the game for those within the team for which cricket is a new game. Also the cakes were great!
