Match 9 - Wednesday, 27th June 2007
3rd XI v Lambrook Haileybury: LOST by 6 wickets
Eagle House 81 for 4, Lambrook Haileybury 87 for 4
The match was a 20 overs game played on a grass wicket. Lambrook Haileybury won the toss and decided to field. Our innings lasted the 20 overs, but our score of 81 was not high enough on a pitch with short boundaries. David De-Merist was our top scorer with 23 including two 6s and Carlos Gomez's score of 17 came from four 4s and a single. Set a target of four per over to win, Lambrook Haileybury began accumulating runs at a fast pace. When they lost four quick wickets the game was in the balance, but their number five batsman scored 25 and they won with three overs to go. Byron Coop was our best bowler, taking three wickets for 5 and Alex Heyre also took a wicket. Carlos Gomez and Kevin Akunwa both fielded well.
The team: *Byron Coop; Emanuel Vila; David De-Merist; Carlos Gomez; +Tom Inglis; Sam Auger; Alex Heyre; Ryan Chan; Kevin Akunwa; Robert Trapnell; James Vonchek.

Match 8 - Wednesday, 13th June 2007
Under 12 B XI v Horris Hill: LOST by 5 wickets
Eagle House 95 for 8, Horris Hill 96 for 5
The match was a 25 overs game played on a grass wicket. The teams consisted of Year 7 pupils only. Horris Hill won the toss and decided to field. For the first time this season our innings lasted the 25 overs. Kevin Akunwa was our top scorer with 24 including five 4s and Ryan Chan scored 15. Only two of our players were out for a duck. I would have liked a total above 100, but 95 was very pleasing after our last performance! Set 96 to win, Horris Hill began at a blistering pace and it seemed as though their victory would come easily. After they retired their two best batsmen, who had made a stand of 50, the game began to turn and we picked up five quick wickets to set up an exciting finish. Horris Hill won in the 23rd over, so the game was actually quite close. Some performances worth a mention: Tom Inglis at wicket-keeper, who made up for some lapses in concentration with a fine catch and run out; Kevin Akunwa's over of fast bowling; Kris Cook's great run out; and Sam Auger, who bowled five overs and only conceded 5 runs.
The team: *Richard Bishop; +Tom Inglis; Will Price; Sam Auger; James Vonchek; Alex Heyre; Kris Cook; Ryan Chan; Kevin Akunwa; George Williams; Robert Trapnell.

Match 7 - Saturday, 9th June 2007
Under 12 B XI v Moulsford: LOST by 10 wickets
Eagle House 24 all out, Moulsford 26 without loss
The match was a 25 overs game played on a grass wicket. The teams consisted of Year 7 pupils only. Captain Alex Heyre won the toss and decided to bat. Unfortunately we were all out for 26 in only nine overs. None of our players got into double figures and five were out for a duck. Our entire innnings lasted for less time than the journey to Moulsford! They needed only six overs to score the winning runs. We were completely out-played today by a much better team, but the boys took the defeat in their stride and were not despondent.
The team: Tom Inglis; Will Price; Sam Auger; James Vonchek; Robert Trapnell; *Alex Heyre; Sapan Maini-Thompson; Ryan Chan; Kevin Akunwa; George Williams; +Mat Fitz-James.

Match 6 - Saturday, 19th May 2007
3rd XI v Aldro: LOST by 156 runs
Aldro 214 for 7 dec, Eagle House 58 all out
On a sunny, but blustery afternoon Eagle House travelled over to Aldro. Aldro won the toss and chose to bat. After 27 overs Aldro had amassed the huge total of 214 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. The bowling of Eagle House was poor for much of the afternoon and but for some excellent fielding, from Sam Auger in particular, the score could have been even higher. Kris Cook and Sam Auger both took two wickets each and at the end of the Aldro innings Emanuel Vila bowled two tidy overs in which he took a wicket. Chasing such a large score was always going to be difficult, but it was not a limited overs match and if the players had batted with greater care than is required in a limited overs game they could have made things difficult. We did not get off to the best of starts with a run out in the first over, but Richard Bishop got his head down and also hit several hefty blows in his innings. The only other score of note came from Emanuel Vila who was not out 15 at the end of the game, not bad for someone who has never played cricket before until this term!
The team: *Byron Coop; Richard Bishop; +Tom Inglis; Will Price; David De-Merist; Sam Auger; James Vonchek; Kris Cook; Alex Heyre; Emanuel Vila; George Williams.

Match 5 - Wednesday, 9th May 2007
3rd XI v Cranleigh: LOST by 9 wickets
Eagle House 70 all out, Cranleigh 71 for 1
The match was a 25 overs game and on a miserable day, during which the rain never let up, Eagle House batted first and made a slow start only averaging 2 runs per over for much of the time. Too many runs were missed due to poor running between the wickets. With 20 overs gone the side were well short of any sort of a target and it took the efforts of Jamie Allum and Kevin Akunwa, who both hit some good boundaries, to post a reasonable score. Cranleigh batted with great purpose and no small amount of skill, in particular their opening batsman who scored 43 not out and steered his side to a good win. On the bowling front Sam Auger bowled a good line and length, conceding only 9 runs in his three overs. The side fielded with great keenness and with a great deal of effort. The outstanding piece of fielding being brought off by James Vonchek when he swooped on to a ball that looked a certain boundary, picked it up and threw it in all in one motion.
The team: Matthew Fitz-James; Richard Bishop; +Jamie Allum; Will Price; *David De-Merist; Sam Auger; Alex Notley; James Vonchek; George Williams; Kris Cook; Kevin Akunwa.

Match 4 - Wednesday, 2nd May 2007
3rd XI v Parkside: LOST by 8 wickets
Eagle House 85 all out, Parkside 88 for 2
The match was a 25 overs game played on Manor Field artificial wicket. Parkside won the toss and decided to field. We batted for 24 overs and were all out for 85. There were four maiden overs bowled by Parkside. Once again, Alex Notley was our top scorer with 18 including four 4s and two of our players were out for a duck. Parkside needed just 12 overs to win the game, scoring 88 for the loss of two wickets. Byron Coop and Will Price took a wicket each. Unfortunately, our fielding let us down today because we conceded 21 runs in byes. This is something we must improve in our next game.
The team: *Byron Coop; Carlos Gomez; +Jamie Allum; Will Price; Alex Heyre; David De-Merist; Sam Auger; Mathew Fitz-James; Alex Notley (went off injured and substitued by Kevin Akunwa); James Vonchek; George Williams.

Match 3 - Saturday, 28th April 2007
3rd XI v Highfield: WON by 6 wickets
Highfield 69 all out, Eagle House 70 for 4
The match was a 25 overs game played on Main Field artificial wicket. Captain Byron Coop won the toss and decided to field. Highfield batted for 19 overs and were all out for 69. Will Price took four wickets, Sam Auger took three wickets and Byron Coop took two wickets. The other wicket was a run out. Jamie Allum put in a fine performance as wicketkeeper. We needed just 12 overs to score our 70 runs. Alex Notley batted well and scored 31 including six 4s and this time only one of our players was out for a duck. Our 'best eleven' is beginning to take shape and our first victory of the season is well-deserved.
The team: *Byron Coop; Kris Cook; Kevin Akunwa; +Jamie Allum; Will Price; Alex Notley; Felix Titherley; David De-Merist; Sam Auger; Mathew Fitz-James; Carlos Gomez.

Match 2 - Wednesday, 25th April 2007
3rd XI v Lord Wandsworth: LOST by 5 wickets
Eagle House 98 all out, Lord Wandsworth 101 for 5
The match was a 25 overs game played on Manor Field artificial wicket. Captain Richard Bishop won the toss and decided to bat. We batted for 22 overs and scored nearly twice as many runs as in our last game. Richard Bishop batted well and scored 35 including six 4s, but four of our players were out for a duck. We were all out for 98, giving Lord Wandsworth a required run rate of four per over to win. They needed 20 overs to achieve their target and lost five wickets in the process. Alex Notley took three wickets and Will Price and Sam Auger took a wicket each. Although the result was the same as against Caldicott, this match was more evenly-balanced and most of the boys have improved their cricketing skills.
The team: *Richard Bishop; Kris Cook; Alex Heyre; Kevin Akunwa; +Tom Inglis; Will Price; Alex Notley; Felix Titherley; David De-Merist; Dom Auger; Sam Auger.

Match 1 - Saturday, 21st April 2007
3rd XI v Caldicott: LOST by 5 wickets
Eagle House 52 all out, Caldicott 56 for 5
The match was a 25 overs game played on Manor Field artificial wicket. Captain Byron Coop won the toss and decided to bat. Alex Notley scored 13 including three 4s. Unfortunately, six of our players were out for a duck, mostly because they backed away from the ball and left their wicket unguarded. This is something we must work on in the nets. Our score of 52 all out in 14 overs was much better than the 10 runs we scored against Caldicott last season! Caldicott needed just 10 overs to win the game, but they lost 5 wickets in the process. David De-Merist took two wickets and Will Price, Kevin Akunwa and Byron Coop took a wicket each. I look forward to our next game.
The team: *Byron Coop; Alex Heyre; Kevin Akunwa; +Tom Inglis; Will Price; Alex Notley; James Vonchek; David De-Merist; Dom Auger; Sam Auger; George Williams.
