U11 Boys v Yateley Manor

Thursday 12 March

Lost 35 - 8

U11 Basketball Squad:  Adam Bailey, James Fowlie, Oscar Gaff, George Wilks, Aman Ale, Ross Yates & Charlie Saxby

The U11 boys played very well and learned a great deal in this match against a very good Yateley Manor side.  Despite the score, our boys enjoyed their chance to play basketball and are very keen to play more.  What we need to do now, is to play and practice more often.

For the amount of basketball that we play, the boys performed well and I cannot grumble about their efforts and determination. Every boy played well and tried their best, never letting their heads go down.  I am very proud of their spirit and attitude, especially after the game as they cheered and applauded the Yateley Manor team and all agreed what a great game basketball is and how much it can teach you.

At Eagle House, we like to play Basketball as it brings into play a great deal of the tactics and skills that are important in all invasion games; team work, anticipation, quick and accurate passing, good movement into space, quick defensive organisation, vision and playing at a variety of speeds.

Unfortunately, we played far too quickly which made for a number of forced and unforced errors.  Our passing was not good enough and we were very slow to help the ball carrier and did not go to the ball, alllowing Yateley Manor to intercept an extraordinary number of passes.  Also, our dribbling often ended with our players running into the opposition and at times our defence crumbled as we over committed or followed the ball too far.

Lets practice some more and learn from our match.

Well tried boys.
