The National Athletics Championships
Monday 5th July
at The Alexandra Stadium in Birmingham
We took 5 children to the Nationals this year and every one acquitted themselves brilliantly. To even get to the Nationals is a huge achievement as this means that you are the best in your event at your age groups in all private schools in your region- our region of Wessex is made up of schools from 4 counties!
Our pupils were:
Ashleigh Bishop - U14 girls' High Jump
Jenny Edwards - U13 girls' Shot
Georgina Walton - U13 girls' 1500m
Darcy Coop - U13 girls' Javelin
Adam Robinson - U13 boys' 800m
Of all our pupils, the best performance was by Ashleigh Bishop who was second, while Jenny was 8th and the other pupils were in the top 10 - that is in the country from all private schools!
Well done to you all on a great day!
The Senior Wessex Championships
Wednesday 16th June
at Bournemouth AC
This was the second year that Eagle House competed at the Senior Wessex Athletics Championships in Bournemouth and I am very pleased to say that yet again, we performed very well indeed.
Three of our pupils have made the Nationals in Birmingham on Monday 5th July with 1st place performances and we are waiting for confirmation that a further two have also qualified having surpassed the 2nd string National requirement in their events.
All the pupils who competed for the school should be proud of their achievements in getting to the Wessex Championships, which on it's own means that they are the best at Eagle House, something to be very proud of! If they perform well at the Championships, then that is a fantastic achievement.
Well done to:
Robert Phillips who came 3rd in his Hurdles heat and 4th overall in the high jump for U12 boys.

This was a busy afternoon at the largest girls event in the area and there were some very fine athletes on display in all age groups. Eagle house put out some good performances but seemed to pick up greater points on field events.
Jenny Edwards gained a 1st in shot and 2nd in 100m. Darcy Coop gained two second places in Javelin and 800m. Georgina Walton 2nd in 1500m, Coco Thompson 2nd in 300m - all these girls competing a year young. The U14 4 x 100m ran a very fine race to come in a tight second which bodes well for next year as 3 out of the four were year 7 girls.
In the younger age group, Maddie Brant performed extremely well being placed 2nd in the 55m hurdles and 75m sprint. Zara Anichebe proved her rounder's skills by winning the rounders ball throw.
Well done to all the team!
