National Preparatory Schools’ Cross-Country Championships
Malvern College
Sunday 4 March 2012
We took 21 runners to Malvern and unlike the warm temperatures at Ludgrove, it was cold and we even saw some snow! This is a tough competition and although we didn't win any medals we competed well and all the runners deserve huge congratulations for giving their all. Well done!
This is a big event. 34 schools competed in the U11 Girls race for example - that's 204 runners. The competition is always well organised and I would like to thank Malvern College for giving us a great day. As this is the last race of the season I would also like to thanks all the parents who have supported us so well.
Ludgrove Cross Country Meeting Thursday 23rd February 2012
Team: U13 - Ben Howard, Robert Phillips, Jono Foster, Sven Winkler U11 - Jamie Lunnon, Charlie Perry, Harry Howard, Theo Kneen
A unusually beautiful, mild and sunny afternoon for February gave us great running conditions in this relay event at Ludgrove. This is always a great competition and all the boys running put in a superb performance.
The U11 team started with a strong run by Charlie Perry, who was followed by Theo Kneen, running his best race so far, who was succeeded by Harry Howard. Jamie Lunnon finished off the team with a great run that saw us finish in 10th place out of 18 teams.
The U13 team was ready to give it their all and our first runner, Jono Foster, gave us a great start. Sven Winkler really dug in and ran a superb lap. Robert Phillips then pushed his lap, running with real determination, and it was left to Ben Howard to run an excellent lap that saw us finish in fifth place out of 18 teams. This was indeed a very pleasing performance.
Well done boys - everyone really ran well, digging in when it mattered. Thanks to Ludgrove for laying on another great afternoon.
Eagle House Cross Country Meeting 3rd February 2012
This was a marvellous spectacle of running - over 650 runners from 17 different schools attended - and although it was a cold day, the sun shone and all competitors did themselves proud. There was a boys and girls race race for every year group and a high standard was achieved at every age group. Notable performances from Eagle House came from Amy Rickards and Ben Howard, both of whom won medals.
We would like to thank all the runners who attended for giving us an excellent afternoon of running.
Berkshire Schools Cross Country - Wellington College 21st January 2012
Ben Howard ran an excellent race in this challenging race of 3.5km. He came third overall out of a competitive and big field. Well done Ben - a great run! He has been awarded his Cross Country colours - congratulations.
Section Cross Country
The Section Cross Country event saw every section member running around the various courses that snake through the woods between Eagle House and Wellington.
It was a hard fought race and there were many excellent individual performances. Merlins won the event overall.
