Another fantastic performance from the Spreadeagles, who overcame a very capable Hall Grove outfit in a lively match of remarkable skill. From the first whistle the Eagles pressurised the visitors and three clear clances fell to the captain Liam Kenny. His accurate shots on goal were saved acrobatically by the defiant Hall Grove keeper who pulled off a string of remarkable saves to keep his side in the game. After this exciting start the play settled into a well balanced contest and all the players on both teams were able to make significant contributions.
Eagle House emerged as winners because of the quality of the finishing. Despite the brilliant goal-keeping, Liam's accuarate shooting proved the difference between the sides. Hall Grove created enough opportunities but were nervous in front of goal and a number of chances were missed to put the host side under pressure.

Match 1 v Caldicott Casuals Wednesday 27th January 2.30 pm Away
Caldicott Casuals 2 Eagle House 6
Kenny (5) Ale
Squad: Charlie Nason, Cameron Knighton, Cory Novis, Henry Jones, Daniel Cooke, Harry Frost, William Jeffery, Austin Larson, Aman Ale, Rudy Singh, Liam Kenny (Capt.) Ethan Bradd, Albert Kemp
This was the first match of a two leg contest, home and away against the Caldicott Casuals. It was by far the most important fixture of the day (even more important than the Manchester derby) and the two teams enjoyed a very even contest at a level where every player had the chance to contribute. The excellent finishing of captain Liam Kenny made the result look comfortable in the scorebook, but this was a classic 'end to end' contest and the balance of the game was continually shifting.

Eagle House took the early initiative, with Aman and Austin playing influential roles. Aman and Liam established a two goal lead before Aman was substituted for playing too well. The game then swung in the favour of the home side and only a super save from Charlie Nason kept them out. The Eagle House defence showed stubborn resistance with good work from Cory, Henry and Ethan foiling a series of attacks. However, Eagle House were unable to get any distance on the goal kick clearances and the defence was under sustained pressure. Cladicott drew level with two well struck goals.
Daniel Cooke and Rudy Singh were showing good skills in midfield and Harry Frost was having a very strong game, breaking up attacks and prompting counters. Cameron Knighton replaced Charlie in goal and Charlie added considerable pace and strength to the defence. Liam added two more well-taken goals before half time and the Spreadeagles turned around with a two goal cushion.

Aman returned in the second half with instructions to pass the ball more and he showed great maturity, winning the ball and distributing it evenly among his team mates. Will Jeffery had a quiet first half but exerted more influence as the game progressed, pressurising the Caldicott midfield and forcing mistakes. He combined well with Harry forming a very effective shield in front of the defence. Albert Kemp made two tackles and Henry, while appearing nonchalent formed a successful partnership with Cory at the heart of the defence. Cameron made some great saves and the overall performance and team work on the pitch was first class. Liam scored two more goals near the end but the important thing was that every boy in the school was out on the sportsfield today playing a genuine part in a competitive game at a level they were comfortable with.
