Under 11 B

Wednesday 21st May v St. Piran's

Won 17-15.5

Everyone enjoyed this afternoon's fun and friendly match against St.Piran's.  Although the teams were pretty well matched in many ways, I was impressed with the Colts Bs and think that their win was certainly well deserved.  Darcy dominated our fist innings, managing to score on each of her five of her turns.  Ashley, Ellie and Jaya also contributed to the 8.5 total with great rounders of their own.  Ashley, Maggie, Eliza, Rosie and Kitty all scored very useful points in the second innings but it was Lily who kept us on the edge of our seats, confidently running 3.5 exciting rounders.

I was really pleased to see the girls stepping up their focus and concentration whilst fielding today; the improvement on last week was massive.  There were some beautiful long distance throws from Beth and Kitty, preventing the opposition from scoring on several occasions.  Darcy was a quick and reliable second base, conscientiously backed up by an ever alert and nimble footed Laura and Jaya worked efficiently and consistently as back-stop.  Some dramatic catches added to the spectacle!

In fact, I felt that all of the girls gelled as a team very well this afternoon, backing each other up, encouraging each other and importantly maintaining their focus and concentration right up until the end.  The extra effort by us all created a positive feeling amongst the team which doubtlessly contributed to their victory.  Everyone should feel proud of themselves today, well done!!

Wednesday 14th May v Yateley Manor

Lost 16 ½ - 11 ½

Yately Manor always gives us a run for our money and this match was no exception.  Unfortunately, some unfocused fielding in the first innings gave away a few unnecessary rounders but this tightened up hugely during the second innings with the opposition achieving only half of their first score.  On a positive note, very few half rounders were given away by our bowlers who should be congratulated on their increasing accuracy.

Yatley Manor’s fielding was often impressive but it did not prevent Suzanne and Ashleigh from scoring several rounders each.  Useful ½ rounders were also notched up by the other team members but not as many as we would have hoped for or are capable of!

The competition was stiff this afternoon, but both umpires agreed that the play, particularly in the second half, was far closer and evenly matched than the scores might suggest.

Looking forward now to our next match, when, if we maintain our focus and concentration could easily be another win to match our first!

Wednesday 7th May vs Daneshill

U10/U11B Won 20 -16

It was a beautiful day (at last) for our first rounders match and the girls worked well together to beat Daneshill.  8 rounders were scored in the first innings, a reasonable score but one which the opposition managed to beat by 2 and a half rounders.  The second innings was better scoring with Eagle House racking up a total of 12 rounders.  Knowing it was anybody's game, the girls stepped up their fielding impressively.  All of the Daneshill team were out after only 15 balls, securing the Colts B their first win of the season. Well done girls, what a great team effort!
