Wednesday 14th May vs Yateley Manor

U10/U11C Lost 13.5- 10

Yateley Manor opened the batting with strength and conviction showing our weaknesses out in the field. It only took a few balls for us to wake up and soon  Romy made a great catch and we began to up our game. Cara's fielding shone through at 3rd base stopping and throwing well. As we came in to bat Yateley Manor were on a score of 6 which presented us with a reachable target. We however did struggled to make contact with ball, resulting in no rounders being scored by running, only through no-balls.

In the second innings, Eagle House's fielding was far stronger, resulting in 6 Yateley Manor players being out.  Maimu's bowling was consistent, giving away few no-balls, and she was catching well as the ball was returned to her.  Menna played well yet again as backstop, throwing strongly through to 2nd base, enabling a further 2 players to be stumped out.  As we started the second innings in bat there was a dramatic change of fortune.  We were finally not only making contact with the ball, but placing it effectively in the field.  Maimu's running was superb and she led the example for the others.

The second innings showed our true potential, so now we need to work on sustaining that level of play for the whole match.

Menna 0.5, Maimu 3.5, Sophia 0.5, Alys 3.5, Romy 1, Chantal 1.

Wednesday 7th May vs Daneshill

U10/U11C Lost 13.5-16

Despite the final score line, this was a fantastic start to the rounders season for the U10/11C team.  Scoring 7 rounders in their first innings, Eagle House batted with confidence, although a little more speed around the pitch may have resulted in a few more half rounders being scored.  Sophia abd Cara were the top scorers in the first innings, each adding 1.5 rounders to the total.   Daneshill opened their first innings in style, scoring 5 rounders on the first 5 balls - it looked to be a tough game.  Nevertheless our fielding skills were incredible and soon the whole of the Daneshill team were out with 15 good balls still remaining.  Menna, as backstop, made 3 terriffic catches and then got a further 2 players out at 4th base - certainly deserving the accolade of player of the match for this game. Going into the second innings, Eagle House were winning 7 - 6.5, so certainly there was still everything to play for.  Maimu and Menna added a further 2 rounders each to the Eagle House total, which reached a respectable 13.5 by the end of the innings, with only 3 of our players out.  Daneshill's second innings, thankfully, started far slower than the first, with only 3.5 rounders being scored on the first 15 balls.  After 27 balls the teams were level.  It was only on the last 3 balls of the match that Daneshill were able to score the crucial 2.5 rounders that won the game.  Well done girls, it was a pleasure to umpire your match and good luck for the rest of the season.

Menna 2.5, Maimu 2.5, Sophia 2, Alys 1.5, Cara 1.5, Romy 1, Chantal 0.5, Aanya 0.5

Player of the Match: Menna
