Bishopsgate Netball Tournament
Saturday 19th March
3rd out of 7 teams
Bishopsgate Lost 4-0
Twickenham Won 4-2
Lambrook A Lost 3-2
Staines Prep Won 6-2
Lambrook B won 8-0
Bishopsgate Won 8-3
This was a most creditable performance as this was the first time the girl's had played the 7-a-side game. they got off to a bad start as they were faced with Bishopsgate who do not play High 5 but 7's from year 3. All the time we looked like the more accomplished side as we had good control but we just could not seem to get the ball into the net. The girls soon settled down into realizing that they had to create more space to allow for the two extra players and open the court out. We made too many silly errors on playing Lambrook A but after a little team discussion a more concentrated team finished off their last three games with great netball.
Thank you to all the parents for their fantastic support throughout the morning and well done to the girls.

Netball High 5’s
Under 9 B’s
Eagle House v Daneshill away
Final score: 4-2
Team: Phoebe Tennant - Captain, Holly Hunt, Isabella Orr, Ella Tyrrell Smith, Emma Jennings, Sophia Orr, Emily Barber.
Daneshill Player of the Match: Isabella Orr
This was the sort of game that makes all the effort to improve; all the concentration to get it right when you’ve previously got it wrong and all the grazed knees on the cold, hard concrete courts, totally worth it when you come out and play like these girls did on Wednesday. It was a very cold winter’s day, but nothing could diminish the almost tangible determination and grit that spread throughout the team. After a good team chat on the bus and a jovial results forecast for fun, it seemed to really focus their win-hungry minds for the concentration, heeding of advice to pass quickly, tapping of the ball out of designated area, snatching of the ball and working together in order to get into the best scoring position was rife. From the depths of bewilderment of last week to such focus, fantastic team spirit, enthusiasm and energy, the “Buzzy Bees” played out of their skins and thoroughly deserved this result this week. Special mention should go to the Orr twins – Isabella and Sophia – who worked so beautifully together to get into position and help each other out in order to allow Isabella the four goals she scored. Emily Barber is also a huge asset to the team and was very gracious in victory against her previous school.
As a coach, I could not be prouder and you should all be very pleased with your performance this week. The trick is to use it – remember what you did differently that enabled you as an individual and as a team to play so much better….. and then do it again next time!
Final score: 4-2 Win (All goals scored by Isabella Orr)

Eagle House v Daneshill
Final score: 3-1
Team: Georgia Frost, Melanie Dickin, Megan Ross, Anna Morgan, Anastasia Grillo, Sadie Parry, Cordelia Bambury
Goals scored – Sadie 2 / Georgia 1
Players Girl of the Game - Anastiasia Grillo
Coaches Girl of the Game - Anna Morgan
A superb performance from all the U9 A girls. At the beginning of the season we played Daneshill and it ended in a draw, but this time you certainly showed that all your ball skills had improved with Daneshill not particulary seeing alot of the play. You were all very bouncy and springy and made loads of interceptions, which was wonderful to see - what you must remember to do is then control the pass afterwards. Sometimes you got so excited that you had got the ball you then went and threw it straight back to Daneshill.
Anastasia created loads of space on the court which always made it easy for a team mates to pass to her... this is what everyone should try and remember to do - well done Anastasia!
Anna was my Girl of the Game especially when she was playing as a defender. She was always on her toes, really alert and sprinted after as many interceptions as she could - well done Anna!

Netball High 5’s
Under 9 B’s
Eagle House v Eton End away
Final score: 1-3
Team: Emma Jennings – Captain, Holly Hunt, Isabella Orr, Ella Tyrrell Smith, Phoebe Tennant, Sophia Orr, Emily Barber.
Eton End Player of the Match: Isabella Orr/ Runner up: Emily Barber
The first game back after the holidays against a strong opposition unsettled us a little and as a result, some of our confident young girls appeared to be a bit bewildered by the speed and accuracy of the Eton End girls. However, 2-0 down by the third quarter but buoyed by some team chats and revived spirit, the girls went on to do their best and fought back. Special mention must go to Holly Hunt – not only did she fall down once on the cold, hard, wet court – but twice! She soldiered on like the genuine trooper she is. Emma Jennings captained very well and worked particularly hard and no one deserved the title of Player of the Match more than Izzy, for her true grit and positive attitude shone through. Emily Barber should also be mentioned for her great debut playing for Eagle House and for proving valuable in defence. Despite the result, the girls learnt valuable lessons of the need to pass quickly and accurately and positioning themselves better in defence so regardless of the score, it was a worthwhile match and one that saw them do there very best – as always – which is hugely admirable.
Final score: 1-3 Lost (Goal scored by Isabella Orr)
U9A V Hawley Place
Won 8 – 2
Players player – Sadie Parry
Team: Georgia Frost, Melanie Dickin, Megan Ross, Anna Morgan, Anastasia Grillo, Sadie Parry, Isabella Orr, Cordelia Bambury
Goals scored – Anna 2, Isabella 2, Anastasia 3, Sadie 1
A wonderful performance girls, a great team effort all around. It was lovely to see you all playing so well and your defensive play was brilliant which is why Hawley Place struggled so much to get the ball down their end of the court into their shooting circle.
A couple of special mentions:
Sadie, you made lots of space on court, you passed the ball and then ran into a space rather than towards the ball and the crowd – so well done.
Isabella, great work in the shooting circle and 2 fantastic shots.
Anastasia – our shooting queen – well done!
And an extra special big well done to our Captain Cordelia, who couldn’t play today, but looked after her team superbly – well done!
Well played everybody and thanks to Mums & Dads who came to support and especially to Mrs Grillo for helping me umpire.

Eagle House U9B's v St Andrew’s, Pangbourne
High Five
Score: Lost 5 - 0
1st quarter - 0 - 1 / 2nd quarter 0 - 2 / 3rd quarter 0 - 4 / 4th quarter 0 – 5
Team: Isabella Orr ©, Sophia Orr, Georgia Frost, Phoebe Tennant, Ella Tyrrell Smith, Hollie Hunt.
St Andrew’s - Player of the Day - Isabella Orr
As only a five-strong team on the day due to sickness, the “Buzzy Bees” worked very hard to take on the strong opposition of St Andrew’s.
Everybody did a valiant job at putting in place the skills we have been working on and footwork, spreading out and moving into space were much improved – well done!
At the end of the day, there was little difference between the St Andrew’s A and B teams and they were a more aggressive, cohesive team. Next half of term will concentrate on ditching those lovely lady-like manners honed at Eagle House and developing a talent for snatching the ball!
Special mention should go to Isabella Orr who not only had not played before this year, was made captain and attained Player of the Match from her opposition. Very well done!

High Five
Score: Lost 4 - 1
1st quarter 0 - 1/ 2nd quarter 0 - 2 / 3rd quarter 0 - 3 / 4th quarter 1 - 4
Team: Sadie Parry©, Anastasia Grillo, Anna Morgan, Melanie Dickin, Georgia Frost, Emma Jennings.
St Andrew’s - Girl of the Game – Sadie Parry
The girl’s put up a noble fight against our St Andrew’s Pangbourne opposition. On the day, St Andrew’s were more aggressive players and a more cohesive team and when they got the ball, they moved it quickly down the court. I think that the pace and attitude put our girls rather on the back foot. However, we did our absolute best and although they were a stronger team, Eagle House U9 A’s put up a respectable fight. Special mention should go to Sadie Parry for achieving Player of the Match and being a good captain, as well as Anna Morgan who’s effort levels were second to none.

Marlston House - Girl of the Game - Anastasia Grillo (captain)
Wow.... what a performance girls, you were all brilliant!!! No matter what position you played on court you all played really well. You had control of your feet this week and moved into lots of space, which made it really easy for you to move the ball around and then into the shooting circle.
The highlight for me today was of course that each and everyone of you scored a goal - so well done team! Keep it up for Friday......

Team: Anastasia Grillo, Anna Morgan, Cordelia Bambury, Sadie Parry, Megan Ross, Melanie Dickin
Daneshill - Player of the Day - Sadie Parry
What a fantastic start to your netball season girls... well done! All of you had a really good game with a lot of accurate passing down the court, and some good feeding into the circle. In training and during matches, all of you need to think about creating space on the court, and when we can, move into that space so that our team mates can see us and then throw us the ball.
A special mention to Sadie, our Girl of the Game, who shot beautifully in the 3rd quarter, and really brought us back into the game. At half time the score was 4 - 1 to Daneshill, but good shooting and some excellent interceptions from Cordelia and Anastasia in centre court gave us the opportunity to just be 1 goal behind in the last quarter.
The final score was a thoroughly well deserved and superbly fought back - 5 - 5.

High Five
Score: Lost 5 - 3
1st quarter - 2 - 1 / 2nd quarter 2 - 2 / 3rd quarter 2 - 4 / 4th quarter 3 - 5
Team: Emma Jennings ©, Isabella and Sophia Orr, Georgia Frost, Phoebe Tennant, Ella Tyrrell Smith, Hollie Hunt. Daneshill - Player of the Day - Isabella Orr
As our first match of the season, the “Buzzy Bees” as we have now called ourselves, put up a noble fight against our Daneshill opposition. Despite having had only a week’s training so far, I was really impressed how you all rose to the occasion in a match situation and played a good game of netball – well done!
A special mention should go to the Orr twins, Isabella and Sophia, as well as Phoebe Tennant whom having not played the game before, worked really hard to put in place their newly learned skills.
Despite a loss, it was a valiant effort girls. Keep up the hard work and listen to instruction and we’ll have a win under our belts in next to no time!
The final score was a noble defeat at 5 – 3.

Eagle House U9B's v Marlston House
High Five
Score: Lost 2-0
Team: Emma Jennings, Isabella and Sophia Orr, Georgia Frost ©, Phoebe Tennant, Ella Tyrrell Smith, Hollie Hunt
Marlston House - Player of the Day – Ella Tyrrell Smith
In spite of the heavy rain that we feared would sabotage our match play, our trip away to play Marlston House went on! It was a good effort from the “Buzzy Bees”, starting off really well with good concentration and moving into spaces and I was particularly pleased with your attention to footwork that had been a little more ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in practice the day before! In the last couple of quarters, bad habits of panicking and clustering around play crept in which meant when the opposition got the ball, they were away down the court, hence the final score. I truly believe however, that with a little more confidence in your passing ability – which is coming along brilliantly – you will soon be spreading out more and playing a better game of netball.
Well done girls for trying your best – particularly in the monsoon-like conditions!
Final score was 2-0

Eagle House U9A's v Yateley Manor
High Five
Score: Drew 2 - 2
1st quarter -1 - 0 / 2nd quarter 2 - 0 / 3rd quarter 2 - 2 / 4th quarter 2 - 2
Team: Anastasia Grillo, Anna Morgan ©, Cordelia Bambury, Sadie Parry, Megan Ross, Melanie Dickin, Georgia Frost
Yateley Manor - Girl of the Game – Sadie Parry
A beautifully sunny autumn day saw a great game of netball played at home against Yateley Manor. We started off strong, in a fast-paced game. Megan Ross scored a great goal in the first few minutes, having worked really well with her teammates and then getting into the perfect scoring position. Sadie scored shortly after in the second quarter; again, great play between each other – looking well and passing accurately. In the last couple of quarters, heads went down a little as we began to tire but we fought on and despite a draw being the final result, played admirably. Special mention should go to Georgia Frost who, as a regular in the B team, rose to the occasion and played really well alongside her A team peers. Everybody should be very proud of how hard you worked and the energy and enthusiasm which you poured into your game.
Final score was 2 - 2.
