Wednesday 2nd March v Marlston House
Won 13 - 2
Team: Jenny Edwards(Captain), Alice Jennings, Megan Wilkins, Jemima Rawding, Lucinda Brooker, Caitlyn Earwaker, Lucy Whitehead, Laura Neat
This was such a great score but the game lacked the intensity of a hard fought match. There were accurate passes down the court from a switched on defence but movement onto the ball was lacking the drive it should possess at this standard. Nevertheless, this team goes from strength to strength but needs to make the most of every moment on the court to play with determination and ambition. Again Caitlyn made her presence felt by hardly missing a shot, whilst Alice and Megan has storming in games in defence.
Saturday 12th February V St George's College
Won 15-10
This was an exciting game between two quite equally matched teams. The ball moved up and down the court with great pace and at all stages the score could have gone either way. The girls played with grit and determination - the defenders (Katie, Alice and Jenny) marked tightly and intercepted many passes. The ball way brought fluidly down the court by Lucy and Megan and there was some great shooting from Caitlyn and Lucinda. Although I only saw two quarters of this game the excitement I could hear from supporters on the side-line was palpable. Well done, girls!
Wednesday 5th February v Lord Wandsworth College & Cranleigh
EH v Lord Wandsworth College Won 20-2
EH v Cranleigh Won 8-5
Two excellent games, both played in competitive spirit with some excellent skills on display. The first game against LWC, EH were easily the stronger side, using strong passes down the court which found their way quickly to the attack. Caitlyn was having an amazing day and converted every shot she given in this game. The team produced accurate passes, moved well onto the ball and zoomed into the lead. They kept this pressure up throughout. In defence, Alice, Megan and Jenny kept their eye on the ball and took advantage of any loopy or weak pass with a wonderful interceptions. Laura who stepped in as WA played a great game, feeding the ball into the circle with fluidity and accuracy
Cranleigh were a much stronger opposition for the 2nds so they were put to the test. Cranleigh's defence were strong and agile but Lucy and Caitlyn managed to dodge around them to receive the ball and with Lucinda's intelligent positioning in the circle, the teams were level at half-time. The ball moved quickly up and down the court, both teams working hard for possession but Cranleigh's shooters had an off moment so we took the lead. EH were really impressive, fantastic passing, great timing onto the ball and finished off with accurate shooting, everything came together at once. The match ended with an 8-5 victory.
Well done girls! This was a most impressive afternoon of netball. This is now the standard that we expect of you every game. Keep it up!
Wednesday 12th January
2nds V Pangbourne College
Player of the match= Caitlyn Earwaker
The first match of the new term started with a win for the second team this week winning 12-8.
From the first ten minutes it was obvious from the sideline that EH was the strongest opposition as the girls pulled into the lead winning 5-1 by using strong passes across the court in order to get to our circle. The girls all started with an amazing attitude towards the match which definitely payed off in the first ten minutes.
The defence did a good job of keeping the ball out of their circle and passing it up to the centre third but unfortunately towards the second 10 minutes the opposition had pulled back and managed to score another two goals, leaving the score at 7-3 after 20 minutes of playing time. After the second team huddle the girls decided that what was going wrong was the amount of balls which were being thrown away by non-accurate passes, after this was addressed the girls passing improved a lot.
The second team did a good job of creating space across the court and managed to secure their win in the last two 10 minutes by scoring another 5 goals, leaving the overall score as 12-8.
The shooters did a god job of scoring once in the circle but the problem seemed to be getting the ball into the circle by using the centre and wing attack.
Well done girls keep up the positive attitude.
