Match 5 VS Papplewick
Result: Eagle house 3 Papplewick 0
The boys started the match of timidly and for the first five minutes of the match the ball was passed slowly around the pitch. But then the match intensified with eagle house getting stuck in and winning the majority of the fifty fifty challenges and regularly intercepting goal kicks and Papplewicks throw in’s. During the five minutes of play before half time Cameron and will had many shots on goal and eventually Cameron managed to find the back of the net, thanks to Theo in midfield winning a 50-50 challenge then finding Cameron in space with only the goal keeper to beet. Papplewick quickly countered and caught the defensive wall of Avan and will of guard and got their only real chance of the game, which josh saved in spectacular fashion not one not twice but three times in eight seconds before finally smothering the ball. So at half time the score was one nil to eagle house.
From the beginning of the second half eagle house was firmly in control of the match with Luke and Conrad both having a better half then the first. The second goal for eagle house came when Luke found Cameron on the left wing who neatly tapped the ball in between the goalie and a defender to have eagle house firmly in control of the match. This was followed by a period of eagle house constantly putting pressure on the Papplewick defence and goalie with all of the eagle house players showing a huge effort to not allow Papplewick back into the game were Theo in particular never gave up a challenge and always chased down the Papplewick attackers leaving josh in goal with not much to do. Eagle house’s final goal came from one of josh’s huge kicks down the field which gave Cameron a one on one opportunity with the Papplewick goalie which he finished off with style to claim a hat trick. The final score read eagle house three Papplewick nil, the stand out players being Cameron and Theo who put in one hundred percent effort, well done to all the boys it was easy for anybody on the side line to see that on the day you were trying your hardest and deservedly got the best result for the season so far.
Match Four VS St Piran’s
Result: Eagle House 0 St Piran’s 4
Due to absences from the under 10 A’s team we were lacking a goalie and a midfielder for the match Conrad kindly volunteered to go in goal and made some great saves during the match and Joseph Belcher and Avan Wright came into the team.
The first half of the match was the better half for the Eagle House players with one or two attempts at goal and some good challenges throughout the half however just befor half time St Piran’s had managed to capitalise on a chance were eagle house defenders had failed to get back in time and left the St Piran’s player only needing to get past Conrad in goal.
From the begging of the second half their seemed to be a lack of interest in the game for most of the players exceptions being Avan and Luke who throughout the second half kept working even as the goals for St Piran’s continued to come the final score was a reflection of the effort put in by the majority of the players in the match four nil to St Piran’s.
Match 3 VS
Hall Grove
Result: Eagle House 0 Hall Grove 5
For the first half of the match eagle house didn't seem to want to be at the match and they certainly didn't act like they were playing a match and had four goals scored against them in the first half.
However in the second half they went out and fought back and on three occasions appeared to be about to score only to have the ball find either the crossbar or the side netting. In total their were four shots that came close to finding the back of the net and it was good to see the boys get stuck in and try hard even after the disastrous first half which made the match impossible to save. Unfortunately In the last five minutes hall grove broke through the defense for the first time in the second half and scored to leave the final score five nill to hall grove.
Match 2 VS Yatley Manor
Result: Eagle House 2 Yatley Manor 2
Within one minute of the whistle for kick off a pass down the wing by Theo found Cameron who neatly slotted the ball into the back of the net. The early goal seemed to give the Eagle House players a false sense of security and Yatley Manor was given a golden opportunity to equalise when none of the Eagle House mid fielders got back to defend and Yatley Manor seized the opportunity and equalised so at half time it was one all.
The beginning of the second half saw Yatley Manor control the majority of the possession and have a few early shots on goal which Josh dealt with with ease. After Yatleys early possession Eagle House countered with Luke making brilliant run down the right side and a cross to Cameron who was easily finished off and the score was 2-1. Then Eagle House seemed to fall asleep again and with three minutes to go yatlry manor scored the equalizing goal. The final whistle came with no real threats on either goal made after the equalizer.
Match 1 vs. Cranleigh Prep
Result: Eagle House 2 - 1 Cranleigh Prep
From the start of the match Eagle House controlled the majority of the possesion, however Cranleigh took the lead against the run of play in the 8th minute with a brerak away goal. The boys kept their heads up and equalised just before half time. Cameron Forkes crossed for William Beardmore who calming slotted the ball into the corner of the net. With two minutes left in the first half Cameron yet again found himself on the left wing in an almost impossible position to score after a long pass down feild by Theo, yet he still managed to find the back of the net to put Eagle House in front.
The second half of the match did not yeild any goals though their were quite a few chances. Eagle House controlled the majority of the possesion though their were three break away attempts by Cranleigh but Josh was more than equal to them in goal. Josh’s eforts in goal combined with Ketak and Theo’s solid defending managed to hold Cranleig of till the final whistle.
Well done to all the boys!

Match One v Hall Grove
Wednesday 29th September, away at 1430
Hall Grove 3 Eagle House 0
At last the C team had the opportunity to take to the football field in a real match against a real opposition after weeks of practising skills and positional play. The team as best they could in driving rain and all bar one maintained their spirit throughout, never giving up.
In the first half Hall Grove dominated the game though some good opportunities came our way. Unfortunately we were unable to stop the constant pressure which in the end meant that we ended the first half with two goals having been conceded.
Nevertheless with the heads held high Eagle House battled away and at times came close to scoring. A lapse of concentration allowed Hall Grove to score again in what had been a equally fought second half in which neither side really dominated.
Perhaps with a bit more drive and determination we may have been able to pressurise the opposition’s half more. We had the opportunities but we did not make the best of them. Joe in the back line had a good game, doing some good saving tackles, assisted by Chris, Jack and Alex at times. The midfield, Alex, Thomas, Joseph and Chris, certainly had their work cut out and will now realise what hard work football can be. Tharoonan up front had a fairly relaxed time up front and perhaps with a bit more drive from the midfield and Avan, those opportunities may have become goal scoring opportunities.
Match Two v Lambrook
Wednesday 13th October, home at 1430
Lambrook 2 Eagle House 0
The second and final match of our season was an entertaining match which demonstrated to the parents watching that some improvement has been made by the boys of this team. Generally the players held their positions and tried their best with the abilities that they have.
In the first half Lambrook dominated the game and Eagle House hardly broke out of their half. Strong and committed defence ensured that the scores remained level at the break. Many chances came Lambrook's way but they were not able to capitulise upon them. In the second half a revitilised Eagle House took to the field with more confidence. They were able to break the Lambrook's dominance of the game. Good chances came our way though we were unable to score. The goals came towards the end of the game when the concentration was wandering a bit and tiredness began to show.
This group of players have made some progress in the understanding of the game and in some of their basic skills. Yet I fear that there is still quite a way to go before they become good players. Nevertheless I cannot fault the commitment and determination of some of the squad's members. Many thanks to those who have played and best wishes for your future seasons of football.
