Match v Moulsford Saturday 7th June 2.30 pm Away
20 over Game won by Moulsford
Moulsford 128 for the loss of 7 wickets
Eagle House 108 for the loss 6 wickets
The Colts D's played in a very close game. We played a 20/20 game where both teams bowled 20 overs, the winning team being the one to score the most runs in the 20 over innings.
Moulsford won the toss and elected to bat first. The D's bowled well on the whole and bowling from ..... started to take it's toll on the Moulsford batsmen. However, a few errant overs where the bowling was not as tight as we would have liked or where the fielding was poor meant Moulsford couls take the advantage with some very good shots and set us a very high target of 129 runs to win.
So, we had 5 overs before tea and got off to a very good start with Ruari Hutchinson and Charlie Riddell opening well. 30 runs off 5 overs and all was possible. The after tea, disaster struck as Charlie was bowled LBW. Not to worry as the Colts d team continued to bat well. In mid order, Moulsford brought on a few better bowlers, who started to take wickets and/or keep our run rate down. After a valiant fight, we made 108 runs from the 20 overs.
Well done D's. I am very proud of the fight you put up and more importantly the improvement that you have all made during this term!
Match v Cranleigh Wednesday 7th May 2.30 pm Home

With the sun shining all was set fair for a wonderful afternoon's cricket. As these two sides prepared for this gladiatorial contest it was clear that all the boys were greatly looking forwards to the chance of pitting their skills against their evenly matched opposition. The toss was made and all 21 boys [ yes that is right 21 boys!] held their breath in eager anticipation of who was going to bat first. With the coin still in the air a clear call of " heads" could be heard from one of the Cranleigh boys. The coin spun towards the ground. Heads! Cranleigh had won the toss and chose to bat.
Eagle House took to the field along with the first of theCranleigh pair. Opening the bowling for the home side was Matthew Stuart as he had decided to field closest to me it was the easiest decision this umpire had to make all afternnon! Matthew bowled a well controlled opening over and the match was under way. During the course of the opposition innings all the children had the chance to bowl at least one over and by the time the 15 overs had been bowled Cranleigh had managed to score 93 runs. Throughout the Cranleigh innings the boys from Eagle House made some excellent saves in the field, but the highlight was an excellent catch made by Tristan at 'Long On'.
Now that Cranleigh had posted their total on the board it was up to the boys from Eagle House to match it, but not before a well deserved drinks break. The task of beginning this run chase was given to Matthew and Ethan and they didn't disappoint as they managed to reach a total of 20 runs after their 3 overs. Next came Charlie and Lewis and as they strode purposefully to the crease you could sense an air of anticipation; they didn't disappoint and during their 3 overs they scored 4 boundaries and scored more runs than any of the other pairs on show. Odise and Ben and Rudy and Tristan played very sensibly over the next few over, but by the time the last pair of Connor and Saranveer arrived at the crease we were behind the game, but to the credit of both these boys they rose to the challenge. Connor managed to hit several 4s, but with the only the last over to come 13 runs were still needed to reach the Cranleigh score. With a final flurry of runs, including 3 off the last ball, it meant that both sides had reached the very creditable total of 93 runs. However, the outcome was decided by Eagle House only losing 3 wickets and a loss of 15 runs, compared to Cranleigh losing 4 wickets and a total of 20 runs having to be deducted from their total.
So ended a terrific game of cricket with all the children having contributed to the match and above all showing some excellent sportsmanship.
