Monday Evening

Year Six have arrived safely!! Supper time.

"Year 6 arrived safely after a four hour drive and settled in well. After a
dinner of lasagne/fish and chips we had an introductory talk from our PGL
hosts and then the children played Crazy Games to run off some excess
energy. All is well so far.

Tomorrow morning we are surfing and body boarding in the Atlantic Ocean -
it's a hard life............

Mr Taylor says the Jelly Babies are fine!

More news tomorrow"

Tuesday Evening

Everyone really enjoyed the surfing and body boarding. The star surfer was
Patrick 'Kelly Slater' Davies and there were many expert body boarders,
including Tianna 'San Diego' Larson, Jacob 'Waverider' Brooks and Caitlyn
'Bounce' Earwaker.

The afternoon activities were: Survivor - making camp fires and bases in the
woods; Initiative Exercises - solving problems in teams; High Ropes - well
done to Octavia Medlock, Ben Barnard and Sasha Bogdaneko for overcoming
their fear and reaching the top; and Orienteering.

I am writing this blog after dinner and before our evening campfire
activity. There will be singing, dancing and some ghost stories - let's hope
we all sleep well.............

More news tomorrow.

Mr Taylor still hasn't eaten all the Jelly Babies yet!

*Wednesday*

Another sunny day, how lucky we are with the weather!

This morning, two groups went Mountain Biking around the centre and two
groups had the 'Wet Challenge Course' and 'Survivor'. The idea of the
challenge course is to get as muddy as possible at the end and all the
children, and willing participants Mrs Creighton and Miss Whalley, entered
into the spirit. The winners of the 'muddiest prize' were Alice Jennings and
Megan Wilkins in the first group and Sasha Bogdanenko and Caitlin Mack in
the second group.

In the afternoon, two groups had 'Rifle Shooting' and 'Orienteering' and two
groups had a 'Coastal Walk'. The sharpshooters were Megan Wilkins - after
washing the mud out of her eyes! - who scored a bullseye, Max Hammond and
Clare Chummun.

The 3.5 mile coastal walk was great fun. We walked along a 'Devon Motorway'
(country lane), through a field of cows, along the South-West Coast Path -
where Mr Mono pointed out Lundy Island for our daily Geography lesson! - and
finally along the seafront at Westward Ho!, where Mr Taylor bought everyone
a delicious ice cream.

The evening entertainment tonight is Wide Games - happening as I write this
blog - and then off to bed for a good night's sleep as we have surfing and
body boarding again tomorrow. It's a hard life..................

Mr Taylor is still enjoying his Jelly Babies.

As the week draws to a close, it is very noticeable that most of the
children have readily listened to instructions and taken on board the advice
of the instructors and staff. They are now much better at turning up on time
and organising and thinking for themselves.

This morning two groups went 'Mountain Biking' and two groups had 'Shooting'
and the 'Wet Challenge Course'. Today's sharpshooters were Sven Winkler and
Jacob Brooks and the winners of the muddy prize were Ben Confortola and
Oscar Turton, although today they were soaking wet rather than muddy.

This afternoon we all went surfing and body boarding again. This time the
weather was overcast, but the waves were slightly higher than before - about
3 feet. A great time was had by all. Mr Mono pointed out that the tide was
coming in for the daily Geography lesson!

After dinner the children put on their party frocks and make up for the
traditional end-of-trip disco and we all said goodbye to Issy Hendry, who
spent three days with us.

As I write this blog we are all frantically packing our bags. Tomorrow two
groups have the 'Coastal Walk' and two groups have 'Initiative Exercises'
and 'High Ropes'.

The children don't want to leave, but we are due to arrive at Eagle House at
6pm.

Mr Taylor wishes he had more nights here to enjoy the Jelly Babies.
